E3 in the Poland - Day 20 ( Stage 3 )

Once again, I welcome all readers to my travel notes on the long-distance European route E3. We are still on the territory of Poland in the Sowie Góry (Owl Mountains). And today we will see how it actually looked there at the time of my visit.

Opět vítám všechny čtenáře u mých zápisků z cest po dálkové Evropské trase E3. Stále jsme na území Polska v Sovích horách. A dnes se podíváme jak to tam vlastně vypadalo v době mojí návštěvy.

I spent the night in a rather wild forest, but on the other hand, it wasn't that cold here and there was no wind. Because I was 1000 meters above sea level and it was the beginning of May.

Noc jsem přečkal v ne zrovna pěkném lese, ale na druhou stranu zde nebyla tolik zima a nefoukal vítr, protože jsem byl přeci jenom v 1000 metrech nad mořem a byl začátek května.

Some trees looked like ghosts from fairy tales.

Některé stromy vypadali jako strašidla z pohádek.

Somewhere, a teddy bear was nailed 4 meters high on a tree. The trip was on the road most of the time, but on the other hand it was a bit of a rest day as there wasn't as much elevation gain as the previous days.

Někde byl zase přibitý plyšový medvěd 4 metry vysoko na stromě. Cesta většinu času vedla po silnici, ale na druhou stranu byl to tak trochu odpočinkový den, protože nebylo tolik převýšení jako v předchozích dnech.

The woods were nice. Lots of places where you could relax for a while. Just what I needed after a few extra demanding days.

Lesy byli pěkné. Spousta míst kde si mohl člověk na chvíli odpočinout. Což jsem po několika extra náročných dnech potřeboval.

At the park manager's buildings, where the bus also goes, you can relax by the lake or make a fire at the official barbecue area.

U budov správce parku kam jede i autobus je možné si odpočinout u jezírka, nebo si udělat oheň na oficiálním grilovišti.

But the fun ended there. The roads were destroyed by heavy forestry equipment and it was necessary to go through the surrounding forest.

Ale jakoby tímto místem pohoda skončila. Cesty byli zničené o těžké lesnické techniky a bylo třeba jít okolním lesem.

Behind the Waliborska Mountain pass (711m), I enjoyed several views of the Polish Plain.

Za sedlem Waliborska (711m) jsem se pokochal několika výhledy do Polské nížiny.

And then I found out why the roads are so destroyed by forestry equipment. Entire sections of the forest were decimated by the wind. I have never seen anything like it in my life, trees split into splinters.

A pak jsem zjistil proč jsou cesty tak zničené od lesnické techniky. Celé kusy lesa byly zdecimované od větru. V životě jsem nic podobného neviděl, stromy rozštípané na třísky.

Even the young trees were not spared and the only way to get through this mess to the other side of the hills was a bulldozer.

Dokonce i mladé stromky nebyly ušetřeny a jediná možnost jak se touto změtí dostat na druhou stranu kopců byl buldozer.

Once I got out of this destruction zone. A view of the surroundings of the city of Klodzko opened up.

Jakmile jsem se dostal z této zóny destrukce. Otevřel se výhled na okolí města Klodzko.

According to the map, I noticed that there should be a fortress from the 18th century from the time of the Prussian-Austrian wars for Klodzko. Therefore, I soon began to see the remains of this fortress.

Podle mapy jsem si všiml, že by zde měla být pevnost z 18. století z dob Prusko Rakouských válek právě o Klodzko. Proto jsem brzy začal vídat pozůstatky této pevnosti.

When I got to the main entrance, I found out that quite successful repairs were going on here. So I decided to visit the fort. The price was 34 zlotys. But since they had all the labels in English, I decided to buy the ticket in that language. Which was a mistake. Because in Polish the pronunciation of the number two is similar to the English word one. So instead of one ticket I bought two. Which I realized after a while. In the end, I didn't even try to return the second ticket and took it as support for repairing the fortress. Because when I saw with what budget they were able to do the repairs. As Czechs, we should be very ashamed, because our buildings are many times overpriced.

Když jsem došel k hlavnímu vstupu, zjistil jsem že zde probíhají poměrně zdařilé opravy. Rozhodl jsem se tedy pevnost navštívit. Cena byla 34 zlotých. Ale jelikož měli všechny popisky i v angličtině, tak jsem se rozhodl si vstupenku koupit právě v tomto jazyce. Což byla chyba. Protože v Polsku se číslo dva výslovností podobá anglickému slovu one. Takže jsem místo jednoho lístku koupil dva. Což jsem si uvědomil po chvíli. Nakonec jsem ani druhou vstupenku nezkoušel vrátit a bral jsem to jako podporu na opravu pevnosti. Protože když jsem viděl s jakým rozpočtem byli schopni opravy provést. Musíme se jako Češi hodně stydět, protože u nás jsou stavby mnohonásobně předražené.

The progress of the reconstruction work was astounding. When I imagine that a few years ago everything looked like a couple of photos above.

Průběh rekonstrukčních prací byl ohromující. Když si představím, že před pár lety vše vypadalo jako pár fotografií výše.

The views of the landscape alone are worth paying the entrance fee for.

Jen za ty výhledy do krajiny se vyplatí si vstup zaplatit.

The indoor exposures can therefore be taken as such a bonus to the views. I definitely want to come back to this place in maybe 10 years and see the progress of the work. When I saw what they were able to do in 3 years. We can only hope that something similar will start happening in Terezín in Czech republic before it falls apart.

Vnitřní expozice lze proto brát jako takový bonus k výhledům. Rozhodně se na tohle místo chci vrátit třeba za 10 let a vidět postup prací. Když jsem viděl co byli schopni udělat za 3 roky. Nezbývá doufat, že se něco podobného začne dít i s Terezínem, než se celý rozpadne.

Near the fort, I walked along an abandoned railway and headed for more mountains. This time Bardo Mountains.

Nedaleko pevnosti jsem se prošel po opuštěné železnici a zamířil do dalších hor. Tentokráte Bardovských.

I climbed the hill Wilczak (633m) where I planned to spend the night. But this particular part of the mountains was dry and not very pretty. Because there were no mature trees. And so I continued further east. Until, on one of the plains, I came across tall yew trees that were the only survivors. Near the town of Bardo, I finally found a place where I could stay in the higher forest.

Vyšplhal jsem se na kopec Wilczak (633m) kde jsem měl v plánu přenocovat. Ale zrovna tato část hor byla suchá a ne zrovna hezká. Protože zde chyběli vzrostlé stromy. A tak jsem pokračoval dále na východ. Až jsem na jedné z planin narazil na vzrostlé tisy, které tu jediné přežili. Nedaleko města Bardo jsem konečně našel místo kde jsem se mohl ubytovat ve vyšším lese.

Because at first glance I didn't know what was actually waiting for me. Day 20 at E3 turned out to be a pretty relaxing day. Even though I walked another 40 km and climbed 963m and descended 1611m, I didn't even feel tired. I guess the body has already started to get used to the load that the trail gave it.

Jelikož jsem na první pohled nevěděl co mě vlastně čeká. Vyklubal se z 20 dne na E3 docela pohodový den. I přesto, že jsem ušel zase 40 km a vystoupal 963m a slezl 1611m tak jsem se necítil ani unaven. Asi si tělo už začalo zvykat na zátěž, kterou mu stezka dávala.
