Making sure that I don't miss out on much - Wednesday walk
The time I spend with nature are the most memorable moments of my life. After two years of being locked up due to the pandemic and then a year because of my health now I really don't want to miss too much. I try to get out as much as I possibly can and see the trees around me. I am not one of those tree huggers, I genuinely love nature. It does something magical in me each time I see trees in bloom or stand under a tree and look up at their majesty.
Today I finally went out for a walk after being cooped up over the last few days. I hadn't been keeping too well lately, so I grabbed the first chance I got to get out and go for a walk. The pink trumpet trees or the tabebuia rosea's have been in bloom since December and now they are fading out. It was sad to see that the flowers I so love to see are now falling off and the trees are becoming bare.
The bare trees don't remain that way for long, before the end of February they will be looking that pretty shade of green, the green we refer to as lime green here. However, it would truthful to say that I am biased towards pinks and purples. They are my favorite colors apart from blues.
Blue skies and pink flowers never fail to lift my spirits. However, to see these trees we had to drive a little further into the city. Since it's a working day the hubs and I had to leave before the traffic gets crazy here. The hubs get annoyed when he has to drive bumper to bumper. When he gets annoyed he annoys me as well, so we had to get out before the traffic heats up and drive like crazy LOL.
We didn't get to see a whole lane of trees whose boughs are weighed down by bunches of flowers as we do in mid January. We got to see balding trees with just a few strands of flowers and mostly empty branches, but it was still worth it.
These were some of the scenes I captured from the passengers seat of the car. The scenes are fleeting and not so clear because of the speed we were driving at hehe, but they are worth a look.
Trees and clouds flew past us and I was lost in my own thoughts. Being with nature has the same effect on me as meditation or prayer. I quieten down and speak in whispers as if my voice would disturb the peace around.
I remembered that it was time for the Jacaranda to be in bloom so we went to the park to see them. Right in front of the park were these two small weird but cute looking palms, I couldn't not walk past these without photographing them.
We walked into the park and got to the area where the jacaranda trees were hoping to see the trees getting ready to bloom.
Imagine my disappointment to see bare branches again. The ground was carpeted with flowers but there weren't many on the trees themselves.
What is happening with our weather, is it getting too warm too soon to make the trees bloom earlier than usual. Oh my goodness I am truly missing out on these pretty sights. I am used to disappointments in life. I have learned to take them as they come. Nonetheless when nature does this to me its rather hard to take.
I am not one to let myself dwell on what is not, so I went ahead and enjoyed what was before me. We sat under a tree on a stone bench, drank some water, had a few cookies before we walked back to the car.
We didn't walk much today just under three kilometers. The heat is catching up here so even walking this distance is getting to be a bit of tiring exercise. I was sweating like crazy, my clothes were soaking wet by the time we reached the car and drove back home.

Even though it did seem a bit disappointing the walk was still enjoyable and a much needed one.
