Lighting up my life - Wednesday walk

The main entrance

Hi Hivians, It's been five days since I last posted here. I've been battling an upper respiratory tract infection. This in addition to my sinusitis has been one long headache (pun intended).

However, yesterday I finally stepped out of the house to attend a Christmas program at my son's university. My son was singing, playing the guitar and conducting the junior choir for his college. I try not to miss beautiful occasions like these and it was worth it. It was a lovely evening in so many ways, not just the music.

I love the way they had lit up the campus, they always do it so colorfully. I wanted to walk around the campus after the program my son and his friends accompanied us in our walk. While it was wonderful to be with them they were also a huge distraction with their constant chatter and laughter that I forgot to take pictures on so many occasions. I was reminded once again what it was to be young. I did enjoy the evening with them, it was such a welcome change from our usual twosome (the hubs and I) quite times.

The lighted arches to the main entrance looked quite stunning. These arches are away from the auditorium where the program was happening. It was easily about a kilometer away from all the crowds.

Every tree was lit up differently with beautiful lights and they looked really amazing. I wished I had the time to go around the whole campus , but was already late. This image above doesn't do justice to what I saw in person. I loved the way that lavender light was reflected on the trunk, branches and leaves differently.

The pathways all around the campus looked so beautiful. Each lit in different colors. They gave one the feeling of being in a fairy land.
Walking through these beautifully lit passage ways was another experience in itself. There were paths that were even more beautifully lit but they were crowded with people. I just couldn't manage to get one decent shot of those paths, even though I tried very hard. After being photo bombed so many times I left the place a wee bit defeated lol.

The hospital area must have been even more stunning, but it was already past 10 p.m. and we had to get home really fast as our fur babies wouldn't have eaten their food. They never eat when they are left behind no matter how enticing we make their food to smell.

Kids jumping on the trampoline and playing games, shouting at the top of their voices added to the fun filled atmosphere. These were mostly children of the staff working here. Santa came and give them gifts while we adults were entertained by the choir.

The food in the food courts was good, there was hardly any space to stand and eat in peace. So we just got some non messy food and stood in a far corner and ate our chicken kebab rolls before we left.

Over all we compensated for the two hours we sat in the auditorium with our long walk around the campus. The Chill December weather did no good to my existing ailments. Nonetheless, its Christmas so why complain about the light amount of discomfort I felt.

The joy of living is in moments like these. Those kids (my son's friends) really made my day. I was still smiling as we drove back home thinking of the lovely time we had there.

Ahhh I just practice being more thankful on Thursdays. 😊 That's one time of the week to help me focus on gratitude. Over time I know it will become a daily habit. 😉

Wow, that's a lot of really lovely lights, @sofs-su! It's so curious that it's on a campus! Usually those sorts of displays are in gardens or parks. It's wonderful that you had such an enjoyable, albeit distracting, time with you son and his friends! I hope that radiant and overflowing health and vitality return to you very quick! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Thank you for your kindness @tydynrain .
This is a Christian institution and hence the celebrations around this time of the year is quite grand.
Since it is a medical university cum hospital the cheer spreads to the patients as well.
I used to miss all this after my first son graduated from this institution but when my younger one decided to become a doctor as well we were thrilled to be a part of all these festivities once again.
Wish you a wonderful weekend.

Of course, @sofs-su, you're always very welcome! Ah, OK! That sounds beautiful!

That's one of the best ways to help people heal! That's really cool that you get to experience the lovely festivities there for a second time with your younger son!

Thank you ever so much! I hope that your weekend is truly beautiful! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
