Campus walk at night

It's been a while since I went out for a walk as I have hurt my foot during one of my morning walks. However, last night I visited my son at the university and we took a long walk. Even though I started from home early by the time I wove through the traffic and got there it was past sunset. The traffic in Bangalore is to be seen to be believed. It is the source of many memes on X ( formerly twitter), its not just the traffic it is also how our city gets flooded after a heavy rain.

Since my son is preparing for exams and is busy with some music competitions in various collages in the city I decided to pay him a visit and carry some goodies for him. I love the campus and like we always do we decided to take a walk around the place. It is such a pleasure to be able to walk with your dear one and enjoy the scenery around.

The Med school has beautiful lawns and gardens all around, so does the hospital itself. However, we avoided the hospital side of the campus and stayed in the collage grounds and pathways surrounding the place. A lot of night life happens here, we get to see snakes, frogs, slugs and other critters on our walk around the place at night. Since I am not too keen on stepping on any slimy, slithering creature we took the well trodden and well lit paths.

I haven't seen the collage at night except on a few occasions when we have gone there for a music festival or graduation dinner or some such thing. Seeing it on a normal day was quite different, the passage ways were lit up quite beautifully making our walk delightful. In this image above the light from one of the reading rooms and another one of the garden lights looked so amazing on the path way. Honestly I didn't realize how beautiful it looked until I saw the image later.

We met Mr.Hopps on the way to the auditorium. I wanted to take a better picture of him but he just vanished into the thick undergrowth around. I hope you can see him in the frame in the bottom right. The croaking of his community was getting louder as the evening grew. Perhaps all the care that is given to the lawns and the garden helps these critters thrive here.

The steps that lead to the collage from all the four directions looked so beautiful in that dim light. The greenery looks lovely during the day but it looked so romantic at night. No wonder love is always in the air among the medical students community lol. I did see a few couples walking hand in hand here.

We walked along one not so well lit path and though it looked beautiful I wasn't too comfortable in this stretch. The lengthening shadows looked eerie in that light. My son was quite amused that I was walking so gingerly as if I would step on a snake each time I took a step. Since it is not very often he sees his mom being scared he did make a few jokes at my cost. Another concern I had was that I would hurt my foot which is just healing. I didn't want to trip and fall flat on my face, even though that would amuse my son to no end I didn't want to take chances. (I am just kidding, he was holding my hand quite tightly to prevent any mishaps, I am kind of accident prone these days)

The trees looked stunning in that dim light. There were two trees which caught my eye, a huge one near the auditorium and another one on the farther side of the collage building. I took a picture of this one above when there was still some day light and the other one I took when the light had faded.

Those huge branches look awesome at anytime of the day, but in the night they seemed to take on some real character.

There were some colorful lights as a part of the decoration for some fest they had a day earlier. It looked absolutely stunning, the way Bangalore always looks during the festive seasons be it Diwali or Christmas. Tell me what you feel about them.

Our walk ended at a coffee shop with some snacks and coffee. I felt rather sad as I left my son behind and drove back home through the mad Bangalore traffic. If not for the traffic my son would be a days scholar and remain close to us. Nine kilometers is no big deal if the road is free, but with such crazy traffic it takes eons to reach your destination anywhere in Bangalore.

Thanks for accompanying me on this walk. Hope you enjoyed yours. Have a beautiful Wednesday.
