Walking through a semi-abandoned park 🚶 🍃 Caminando por un parque semiabandonado

Yesterday afternoon, I went for a couple of hours' walk to a park near the city toll booth. A few months ago, the mayor's office announced that it would be completely restored, but when I got there, I saw that this promise has not yet been fulfilled.

Ayer en la tarde me fui a caminar un par de horas hacia un parque que queda cerca del peaje de la ciudad. Hace unos meses la alcaldía anunció que iba a ser recuperado integralmente, pero al llegar allí vi que esta promesa aún no ha sido cumplida.

This park is called Los Libertadores (The Liberators) and is located on Francisco de Miranda Avenue in La Victoria, Venezuela. Although there is no information there about when it was founded, and I couldn't find anything on the Internet about its history, I've heard that it has been a public recreational space for over 40 years.

Este parque se llama Los Libertadores y está ubicado en la avenida Francisco de Miranda, en La Victoria, Venezuela. Aunque no hay allí información de cuándo fue fundado ni encontré nada en Internet sobre su historia, según he escuchado tiene más de 40 años siendo un espacio público recreativo.

Once you pass the entrance, the place looks clean and the plants are well cared for, but the infrastructure is in poor condition, with broken benches, flower pots, and other items, and no paint, meaning that maintenance is clearly minimal.

Al pasar la entrada el lugar se ve limpio y las plantas cuidadas, pero la infraestructura está en mal estado, bancos, macetas y otras cosas rotos, sin pintura, es decir es evidente que el mantenimiento es mínimo.

Then, as you walk further in, the park shows you its reality in its entirety: it is almost abandoned. For example, the playground near the entrance has broken swings and slides.

Luego, al avanzar más, el parque te muestra totalmente su realidad: está casi abandonado. Por ejemplo, el parque infantil que está cerca de la entrada tiene los columpios y toboganes rotos.

In addition, the grass in the green areas has not been cut in a long time, and in several places it is very tall and prevents you from passing through.

Además, en las áreas verdes no han cortado la grama en mucho tiempo, y en varias partes está muy alto y no te deja pasar.

Los Libertadores Park is not that big, but apparently it does not have permanent maintenance staff. I am sure it would not look like this if the authorities gave it a minimum amount of attention.

El Parque Los Libertadores no es muy grande, pero al parecer no cuenta con personal fijo de mantenimiento. Estoy segura de que su aspecto no sería este si las autoridades le dieran un mínimo de atención.

This problem has been going on for several years, with periods where it has looked better and others like now, in semi-abandonment. Even in these conditions, it is still a pleasant space, with lots of trees and paths for getting some exercise.

Esta problemática ya tiene varios años, con períodos donde se ha visto mejor y otros como ahora, en semiabandono. Aún en estas condiciones es un espacio agradable, con muchos árboles y caminerías para hacer un poco de ejercicio.

I walked to the end of the park, where you can see some houses behind, to see the hole that many years ago was intended to be a swimming pool for swimming practice.

Caminé hasta el final del parque, donde se ven unas casas detrás, para ver el hueco que hace mucho años está destinado a ser una piscina para la práctica de natación.

When I arrived, I couldn't get too close to the future pool because the grass is very tall and has taken over the area, but those white columns you can see in the distance in the photo below are part of that construction.

Al llegar no me pude acercar demasiado a la futura piscina porque la yerba está muy alta, se ha apoderado de la zona, pero esas columnas blancas que se ven a lo lejos en la foto que sigue, forman parte de esa construcción.

I continued my walk, observing the vegetation, the nature, which, although neglected, is ultimately the positive aspect of this place.

Continué mi caminata, observando la vegetación, la naturaleza, que en definitiva, aunque descuidada, es el aspecto positivo de este lugar.

When I see public places in this condition, I think it makes me want to launch a citizen campaign aimed at government officials with the slogan or cry: More love, please!

Cuando veo lugares públicos en estas condiciones, me dan ganas de lanzar una campaña ciudadana hacia los gobernantes con el lema o grito: ¡Más amor por favor!

In addition to a playground and some exercise equipment, such as parallel bars, there is also a basketball court or multipurpose court here.

Además de parque infantil y algunas instalaciones para hacer ejercicios, como barras paralelas, aquí también hay una cancha de básket o de usos múltiples.

And yes, it's also in poor condition. Even so, it's still being used. I saw a group of children going there to play.

Y sí, también está en malas condiciones. Aún así, sigue siendo utilizada, vi a un grupo de niños ir allí a jugar.

But anyway, let's focus on the beautiful things the park has to offer, in the hope that the authorities will fulfill their promise soon and restore it completely.

Pero bueno, mejor veamos las cosas bonitas que tiene el parque, con la esperanza de que las autoridades cumplan su promesa pronto y lo recuperen completamente.
