Tire planters, beauty and recycling in a public space [ENG-ESP]

These days I've been wandering around and yesterday I came across something worthy of note, both for its beauty and for the idea or message it can convey to people.

Estos días he estado paseando por ahí y ayer me encontré con algo digno de reseñar, tanto por su belleza como por la idea o el mensaje que puede transmitir a las personas.

I visited a square and in its garden areas I found some planters made with old tires. I had seen this idea on the Internet, on pages like Pinterest, but not live and direct, I really liked it and that's why I decided to photograph them and share them here. By the way, this is my first post in the HiveGarden community 😊.

Visité una plaza y en sus áreas de jardín me encontré con unas macetas hechas con cauchos viejos. Había visto esta idea en Internet, en páginas como Pinterest, pero no en vivo y directo, me gustó mucho y por eso decidí fotografiarlas y compartirlas aquí. Por cierto, es mi primera publicación en la comunidad de HiveGarden 😊.

Apart from the fact that they look great in the square, as I said at the beginning, they transmit a positive message to the people who see them: reuse or recycle objects, in this case tires.

Aparte de que se ven muy bien en la plaza, como dije al principio transmiten un mensaje positivo a la gente que los ve: reutilizar o reciclar objetos, en este caso los cauchos.

Upon doing some research on this material, after it has spent its useful life in a vehicle, when it is discarded the time it takes to decompose is about a thousand years, just imagine!

Al investigar un poco sobre este material, después que ha pasado su vida útil en un vehículo, cuando es deshechado el tiempo que tarda en descomponerse es de unos mil años, ¡imagínense!

So giving them a use like this, to turn them into planters with beautiful plants and flowers is certainly a great idea, and the fact that they are in a public space much more, because it stimulates creativity in people.

Entonces darles un uso como este, de convertirlos en macetas con bellas plantas y flores es sin duda una gran idea, y el hecho de que estén en un espacio público mucho más, porque estimula la creatividad en las personas.

Most of these tire planters are placed on the trunks of trees that were cut down, either because they were sick or for other reasons, so they fill the void they left, although fortunately I saw that new trees have also been planted in the square.

La mayoría de estos cauchos-macetas están colocados sobre troncos de árboles que fueron talados, ya sea porque estaban enfermos o por otro motivo, entonces llenan un poco el vacío que ellos dejaron, aunque afortunadamente vi que en la plaza también se han sembrado árboles nuevos.

While I was at the square I didn't find any maintenance person to ask about the type of plants that were planted in the tires. I'm not very knowledgeable about the plant kingdom but I did identify some that I know don't need much watering.

Mientras estuve en la plaza no encontré a ninguna persona de mantenimiento para preguntarle sobre el tipo de plantas que se sembraron en los cauchos. No soy muy conocedora del reino vegetal pero sí identifiqué algunas que sé no necesitan mucho riego.

For example, that purple plant in the pot in the photo above and surrounding the trunk in the photo below is low maintenance, I know because a friend gave me one a few years ago and I have it on the balcony.

Por ejemplo, esa planta morada que está en la maceta de la foto de arriba y que rodea el tronco de la foto de abajo, es de bajo mantenimiento, lo sé porque una amiga me regaló una hace unos años y la tengo en el balcón.

This plant is called Tradescantia pallida, although it is popularly known as Man's love or Purpurina. It is super resistant, I suppose that for that reason and for its showy color, it is ideal for public spaces.

Esta planta se llama Tradescantia pallida, aunque popularmente es conocida como Amor de hombre o Purpurina. Es súper resistente, supongo que por eso y por su vistoso color, es ideal para espacios públicos.

I also saw an old trunk converted into a pot, although the plants that were planted seem to be recent, they are small.

También vi un viejo tronco convertido en maceta, aunque las plantas que le sembraron parecen recientes, están pequeñas.
