Sometimes the mountains that we see while passing through some road hide incredible things. I have traveled several times through the landscape of Miranda state (Venezuela) and I always found its elevations very beautiful.

A veces las montañas que vemos mientras pasamos por alguna carretera esconden cosas increíbles. He transitado en varias ocasiones entre el paisaje del estado Miranda (Venezuela) y siempre sus elevaciones me parecieron muy bonitas.

This region near the capital, Caracas, has a cool climate and land that produces a lot of food. I went there with a group of hikers and we went from the town of San Pedro de Los Altos to a natural attraction that leaves you with your mouth open.

Esta región cercana a la capital, Caracas, tiene un clima fresco y tierras que producen muchos alimentos. Por allí anduve con un grupo excursionista y nos adentramos desde el pueblo de San Pedro de Los Altos hacia una atracción natural que te deja con la boca abierta.

When you are walking through those lush green hills you can't imagine what will come next.

Cuando estás caminando por esos cerros frondosos y verdes no te imaginas lo que vendrá después.

You go downhill towards a beautiful forest where there are lots of ferns and other unusual plants and suddenly the change of scenery is drastic.

Vas en bajada hacia un bonito bosque donde hay muchísimos helechos y otras plantas nada comunes y de repente el cambio de paisaje es drástico.

Grayish walls with mostly sandy soil appear before you and you feel as if you are trapped in a labyrinth, you are about to cross the San Pedro Cracks.

Aparecen ante ti unas paredes grisáceas con suelo mayormente arenoso y te sientes como atrapada en un laberinto, estás a punto de atravesar las Grietas de San Pedro.

There is not much scientific information on their formation but it is thought that these cracks or gullies were modeled by rainwater.

No existe mucha información científica sobre su formación pero se piensa que estas grietas o cárcavas fueron modeladas por el agua de lluvia.

These walls become super narrow at certain points, so much so that one person has to pass through at a time. When you rub against them you realize that it is sandstone rock, you get the dust on your clothes.

Los pasos entre estas paredes llegan a ser súper estrechos en ciertos puntos, tanto que tiene que pasar una persona a la vez por allí. Al rozarlas te das cuenta que es roca arenisca, te queda el polvo en la ropa.

A lot of people come here for photo shoots, I've seen several on social networks that are very creative, the place certainly lends itself to that.

Mucha gente viene aquí para hacerse sesiones de fotos, he visto varias en redes sociales muy creativas, sin duda el lugar se presta para eso.

I liked the intermittent vegetation you get in this corridor, it adds a touch of color to the environment. And how about these subtle spider webs?

Me gustó la vegetación intermitente que te consigues en este corredor, le da un toque de color al entorno. ¿Y qué tal estas sutiles telarañas?

At the end of the passage through the Cracks of San Pedro, which lasts about 30-40 minutes, a small forest appears again.

Al finalizar el paso por las Grietas de San Pedro, que dura unos 30-40 minutos, aparece de nuevo un bosquecito.

And then you come across a beautiful mountain scenery, it looks like a screensaver.

Y luego te encuentras con un hermosísimo escenario montañoso, parece un salvapantallas.

The final part of this route has some steep climbs and descents, so it is always good to have a walking stick.

La parte final de esta ruta tiene algunas subidas y bajadas abruptas, por eso siempre es bueno tener un bastón.

After about an hour's walk, you begin to see the town in the distance.

Después de como una hora de caminata, se comienza a ver a lo lejos el pueblo.

And look at these dogs, they accompanied us during the whole excursion and at the end they got between those rocks to drink the water that came down from there.

Y miren a estos perritos, nos acompañaron durante toda la excursión y al final se metieron entre esas rocas a tomar agua que bajaba de allí.

There are many hamlets in this area near San Pedro de Los Altos, people dedicated to farming who always have something to offer visitors: fruits, snacks, drinks, we made a brief stop there before returning to town.

Hay muchos caseríos en esta área cercana a San Pedro de Los Altos, gente dedicada a la siembra que siempre tienen algo que ofrecer a los visitantes: frutas, snacks, bebidas, hicimos una breve parada allí antes de regresar al pueblo.
