Among the abundant art that can be seen in a city like Barcelona, Spain, both in public and private spaces, there are pieces that undoubtedly stand out and remain in the memory, such as the one I present to you in this post: the sculpture Dona i Ocell (Woman and Bird), by Joan Miró.

Entre el abundante arte que se puede ver en una ciudad como Barcelona, España, tanto en espacios públicos como privados, hay piezas que sin duda sobresalen y se quedan en la memoria, como la que les presento en esta publicación: la escultura Dona i Ocell (Mujer y Pájaro), de Joan Miró.

A few years ago I went on vacation to Catalonia, taking advantage of the fact that I had several friends there, and among the many places I visited during the week I stayed, is the Joan Miró Park. A painter, sculptor, ceramist and engraver, Miró (1893 - 1983), associated with the surrealist movement, is considered one of the great artists of the 20th century.

Hace algunos años fui de vacaciones a Cataluña, aprovechando que tenía varios amigos allá, y entre los muchos lugares que visité durante la semana que me quedé, está el Parque de Joan Miró. Pintor, escultor, ceramista y grabador, Miró (1893 - 1983), asociado con la corriente surrealista, es considerado como uno de los grandes artistas del siglo XX.

The day I visited the square I was accompanied by a friend, she took me there to see this impressive sculpture of 21 meters high representing a female figure wearing a hat and on top of it is a bird, hence the title of the work, Dona i Ocell (Woman and Bird). It was inaugurated in 1983 and has since become an icon of the city of Barcelona.

El día que visité la plaza me acompañó una amiga, ella me llevó hasta allá para que viera esta impresionante escultura de 21 metros de altura que representa a una figura femenina que lleva puesto un sombrero y encima de él está un pájaro, de ahí el título de la obra, Dona i Ocell (Mujer y Pájaro). Fue inaugurada en 1983 y desde entonces se convirtió en un icono de la ciudad de Barcelona.

The sculpture is covered with small pieces of ceramic mosaic in different colors: green, yellow, red, blue and black, when the sun hits it many of its pieces shine, a beauty!

La escultura está cubierta con pequeños pedazos de cerámica en forma de mosaico de diferentes colores: verde, amarillo, rojo, azul y negro, cuando el sol le pega muchas de sus piezas brillan, ¡una belleza!

The park where Woman and Bird is located is quite large. After walking around and looking at the sculpture from different angles, I started taking photos, some using perspective, at my friend's suggestion. What do you think? Have you seen this work of art?
