I had a spell of working for NM Rothchild in London circa '99. The offices... and the portraits on the wall stuck out for about 12 inches!.., lady this and lord that..., from 100 years past.., it was an experience.

Yes indeedy, I think it was Nathan Rothschild that was first raised to the nobility by queen Victoria? Apparently she was reluctant to do it for quite a while? I wonder why lol.
