Adventure to the Topes of Collantes.

Escaping for a weekend trip with your friends is one of the best plans and even more so if it is to reconnect with nature, this week we visited the protected area of TOPES DE COLLANTES where a wide variety of species and fauna are found due to its micro climate.

A paradise with abundant vegetation decorates the area, there is the national flower of Cuba that I had only seen in books.

This is the national flower of the island, women wore them in their hair but inside they hid messages to take to the troops during the war.

We ventured into several trails to reach waterfalls such as VEGAS GRANDE or La Batata, during the long walks through the forests I took out my camera and captured nature from the large trees to small mushrooms.

An entire natural ecosystem where fungi rot the trees and when they decompose they serve as fertilizer for new germinations, this is nature a cycle where each living being fulfills its function.

On the way back we crossed caves where bats and some swallows live. It was a long way to get to the camp but several kilometers away we found a house and they offered us water to refill our bottles.
