Market Friday - Four Level Antique Store

I was bored in the town of Morris Illinois while waiting for my wife to get sewing lessons. So I decided to explore the downtown and found a four level antique mall for this #marketfriday

The first level has a room full of old records, tapes and cds. This is a familiar looking King Crimson cover that I remember from my childhood. Now its in an antique store, man I'm getting old.

Here are some even older titles at fairly cheap prices. I'm sure audiophiles would love to give these old records a spin on their fancy new record players.

Another classic album I remember in my middle school days playing on the radio. Pretty pricey as it is still sealed.

I never really got into these guys as their music seemed a bit too reductive and simple.

Same thing with AC/DC very simple 3 chord rock songs. I preferred more complex music back in the day.

The second floor was full in interesting junk. The stained glass windows add a nice color wash over the vintage items.

Back in college I had a professor who was a connoisseur of antique kitchenware. I'm sure he would be in heaving pillaging this place.

These bowls and pots look 60s or 70s era. I wouldn't mind getting a guitar in that vintage orange color.

Now for a case full of creepy looking heads and figurines. I'm sure these are all haunted by various poltergeists.

Who wouldn't want a gaudy looking Elvis painting in their living room?

Some vintage GI Joe toys, I seem to remember them being smaller than this when I was a kid.

Some band concert posters not terribly vintage.

Here's a fairly old Nixon poster, I think this was probably made before he resigned.

That's all for now, thanks for looking and happy #marketfriday

I agree on the vintage orange color 😁 I just bought this dutch oven. Its probably a bit before your time but what do you think of progressive rock like Kansas? btw you were just too young for the vintage bigger GI Joes.
The little ones came out in 1982. https://www.saturdayeveningpost.com/2022/07/when-g-i-joe-got-small-to-get-huge/

I would love a nice telecaster in that orange color. I bet I could have found a Kansas album in the stacks somewhere, maybe the one with dust in the wind. Yeah I was just the right age to get the tinier gi joes with interchangeable parts, half dr mindbender half roadblock mutants were my specialty.

This is a little more than Dust in the Wind. More complex.

but you have to get past the really 70s video lol

Now i can see where prog rock bands like dream theater get their inspiration. I have to convince my boss to let me grow out my hair like that lol.

I had 6 peach crates full of albums that I neglected out of my possession years ago. They probably ended up in such a shop. King Crimson albums were among them (the Belew years).

There's a few hipster record stores in downtown chicago that would pay a pretty penny for a crateload of records.

I love the stained glass glow in that room. I never knew King Crimson but all the others I do. Iron Maiden are still cool...I mean how many metalish bands do you know who's singer flies them around in their own plane? Classy guys.

Those head toby jug things are very collectible and rather stupidly expensive. I've never actually liked them but some people do (not sure why).

I like the orange. I'm sure you'll find your guitar or should I say your guitar will find you... when the time is right.

I loved iron maiden back in the day that album had quite a few hit songs. Maybe I'll binge listen to them again at work. I wonder if the head jug things were yesteryear's versions of garbage pale kids, furbies and beanie babies. For the guitar I might have to just attempt my own paint job.

I really like old rock songs of the 70s era, the songs are very good to hear even though they are metal.

The old school metal seems more like rock compared to metal of today.

The AC/DC record "The Road to hell" was the first hard rock album that I met back in my school years.. I fell in love with him!

It was quite popular in high school for me as well. Many sports teams used their songs to get excited before starting a game.

I really liked the musical breaks in the NHL. There was no such thing in our hockey back then

Wow! Looks what you found! I love that first shot and look at those albums! OMG! I can hear heavy breathing in the audience. I just know people already have those in their collection.

I love these antique malls. They make for good company! Your wife is getting sewing lessons! That is awesome! I love sewing and it is interesting what you can learn once you learn the basics. Good luck to her!!

Next time, I am coming with you here. I see a few things I just want to touch a minute. :)

Thank you for supporting #MarketFriday! It has always been interesting to walk through a post and get a view of another part of our world. Seriously, isn't it interesting to do that? I have read all of the posts, and it is always a pleasure, and most of you know I had something unexpected this week, taking me out of town, so I am late to the comments, which I apologize for. My apologies and it is not a habit as I know everyone works hard to put together great posts. I had wonderful posts this week! I hope that you took the time to go around and check a few out. It makes a better community when the interaction is genuine! Thank you! It helps me out when I am not the only comment on a post. :)

Thank you so much! It is very appreciated!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.
