Today I want to introduce you to a particular route!

Today I would like to create a useful post especially for those who may soon be on holiday in Italy, especially in the Tuscan region, one of my favourite regions because it is not only rich in history but also has a lot of nature to discover.

I would like to take you on an exploration of a beautiful nature trail that is only 4 km long and is located in the municipality of Colle Val d'elsa, a beautiful Renaissance town that is just a few kilometres from Siena. Besides being a beautiful place to visit historically, with numerous monuments, it is crossed by the Elsa stream and it is there that its naturalistic side, which many of you will probably not know, unfolds.

Colle Val d'elsa, a beautiful medieval town famous for its crystal production, is the oldest and most historic part of the town is located above the hill, while the newer part is below.

I shared with you one morning, where the path along the river practically starts.

When I walked along this path I fortunately did not find many people because it was out of season, but it happens often during the summer when there are a lot of people who come here to cool off and bathe in the creek. The only thing I would recommend is to pay attention to the weather forecast because the river level rises very quickly during a storm and to always take a kway with you, because as you can see from the photo there are some very challenging river crossings.

From my point of view, this path is ideal especially when the days are sultry, you must know that in summer, humidity in Tuscany reaches unthinkable peaks, in these places you can find refreshment and for those who wear a swimming costume you can go swimming.

Along the way you can also come across beautiful waterfalls, nothing important but they are very beautiful to see and large pools of water where you can bathe in this turquoise-coloured water, which practically has this colour because it is partly thermal water, you must know that Tuscany is rich in these waters precisely because they are volcanic lands.

What I really liked were the natural bridges but you have to be very careful not to slip because of course you have to go over huge stones which are very slippery, and anyway it is a place where you can come with the whole family because the river level is quite low anyway and also bring your four-legged friends who in summer especially, need to cool off often.

The other advice I have to give for families, is to avoid coming with pushchairs because it would be practically impossible to do these 4 km and therefore the path is not suitable even for the disabled, but there is a project on the part of the administration, I am told, to fix this path in the future and make it usable for all people.

Below in the map always, I share with you the end of the route practically.

My post ends here, I hope and you have found this route interesting, and something more naturalistic this to make you realise that in Tuscany besides museums and monuments there is also something else to see especially if you come in summer.
