"The Medieval Village of Apella: a place of tranquillity and history".
The Medieval Village of Apella is a place where tranquility and relaxation reign, perfect for spending a weekend away from the stress of daily life. Located in an easily accessible location, the village is small but contains a rich history of charm. The old stone houses, the alleys, the small courtyards and the flowering gardens create a cozy and intimate atmosphere, immersed in the Lunigiana woods. There are currently works in progress, but we are sure that the final result will be surprising.
In addition to beautiful walks through the woods, the Medieval Village of Apella also offers opportunities to discover the history of the area. The Nardi House houses a small and charming library and educational paths that help understand the history and culture of these valleys. Not only that, the village is also the ideal place for those who love to walk on bare ridges, pick blackberries and raspberries or venture into chestnut groves. In this way, you can learn to appreciate the beauty of nature and the history of this difficult land, which has managed to give a living to many people.
The Medieval Village of Apella is a place that, although it was inhabited in the past, is today practically abandoned and mainly populated by tourists. However, despite this, staying in Apella during the summer, when the weather is nice, is a pleasant and relaxing experience, especially if you have 3 or 4 days available. The village offers the possibility of peaceful walks in the surrounding woods, which give a pleasant feeling of peace and tranquility.
To move around the area, you need to take the car, as the climbs are too demanding for a bicycle. However, walking and horseback riding are also recommended, as well as visiting the surrounding villages. Once the tour is finished, you can spend some leisure time in the pool, enjoying the sun and relaxation. In this way, you can spend a weekend of well-being and rest during the beautiful summer season.
The Medieval Village of Apella was the birthplace of Anacarsi Nardi and his uncle Biagio Nardi, Risorgimento heroes who left their mark in Italian history. Anacarsi Nardi was shot in Calabria in 1844 along with the Bandiera brothers group, while Biagio Nardi was dictator of Modena during the popular revolt of 1832. Following their deeds, the name of Licciana Nardi was partly inspired by that of the two heroes.
Inside the village, there is the Nardi house museum, which was recently renovated shortly after 2000. This building houses an informative site on the Italian Risorgimento, which offers visitors the opportunity to get to know the life and deeds of the two heroes better. The museum is open to the public from April to October and is an important cultural attraction for those interested in the history of the area.
In conclusion, the Medieval Village of Apella is a place of peace and relaxation, surrounded by nature and rich in history. It offers the opportunity to take pleasant walks in the surrounding woods and to learn about the local history and culture through educational paths and a museum dedicated to the Risorgimento heroes Anacarsi Nardi and Biagio Nardi. It is the ideal place to spend a weekend in the summer, enjoying the sun and relaxation by the pool.
