Finally in Naples!!!
Hello dear friends,
Finally, after a few days of feeling unwell, as I had already mentioned in my previous post, I set off on my summer vacation. This time, I went to visit a dear friend with whom I've shared several trips around Europe. He used to be a tourist entertainer, and now, for several years, he has been working as a tour guide in the city of Naples. I was lucky to find a very affordable flight to Naples, which saved me the stress of taking the train, sometimes too slow a way to travel.
As soon as I arrived in Naples, the first thing I did was to savor some of the delicious Neapolitan specialties. I think it's one of the first things to do when you arrive in this city, especially for someone with a sweet tooth like me.
The first stop of my visit was the important Capodimonte Museum. In reality, it's a beautiful Bourbon palace housing significant collections, with a special section dedicated to Neapolitan painters, especially from the Bourbon period during the Spanish rule in the city. As an art enthusiast, I believe a visit to such an important museum is a must, not only for Naples but also for Italy. I was very satisfied with the visit inside the museum, although I was somewhat disappointed with certain aspects.
For example, the descriptions next to the artworks seemed too brief and sometimes overly simplified. While guided tours are available from the museum, I think a more in-depth description of the works would be beneficial. I regret that I couldn't visit the nearby famous botanical garden; there are so many things to see that it's hard to cover everything in just a few hours. To fully appreciate all the works contained in this museum, one would probably need to spend multiple days here.
It's worth mentioning that one floor was not accessible due to ongoing restoration work, and some of the artworks were moved to other museums in the city. On the positive side, there weren't many people during my visit, so I could explore the museum calmly and without chaos, but I suppose it depends on the time of day you visit.
In any case, I was impressed by several important works by Tiziano. I conclude my post by sharing the photos I took in this significant museum. In the coming days, I'll surely visit other interesting places in Naples, a city that, at first, may seem chaotic (I knew it from a previous visit), but it appears even more so now compared to a few years ago. Nonetheless, it's definitely a place worth visiting. As my friend recently told me, tourism has increased significantly and surpassed the levels of 2019.
Anyway, in the end, I can say that I had a wonderful impression of this museum. To be honest, I had already visited it many years ago, but I found it to be better maintained overall, and I genuinely didn't remember the collection being so vast! Beautiful!
Thank you for reading my post; I hope you enjoyed the photos. See you in my next post, and I wish you all a great day!!
