Hello dear friends,

Since the posts about Tuscany and its beautiful villages always receive a lot of appreciation from you, today I've decided to share another post about another place that I unfortunately visited very briefly, which is the medieval village of Trequanda, a beautiful town in the province of Siena, nestled on a hill between the Val d'Orcia and the Sienese Crete. It's possible that I've already talked about this village here, as I've explored that area of Tuscany quite a bit, and I believe it's still a very lovely place to visit.
Trequanda has a population of about 1,180 inhabitants, and like all the villages in Tuscany, it's slowly depopulating because most people, as I've mentioned in various posts before, are moving to larger cities where there are more services and job opportunities.

I took my usual stroll through the streets of Trequanda, and I must say there are various accommodation options to suit all budgets. I've learned that this beautiful town was founded in Etruscan times, a people that were widespread in this region. It's worth noting that there are other important tourist cities to visit nearby, such as Pienza and San Quirico d'Orcia. This village was contested between Siena and Florence, but it came under Florentine dominion, leading to the development of the most important monuments that we can still appreciate today.

In fact, if you notice from the photos, I shared the beautiful Castle dating back to the 13th century. Unfortunately, over time, the castle has become private property and has undergone various restorations to host events like weddings. I couldn't visit it this time, partly because I had very little time, and it's still under restoration. I think it will be open to visitors from next year, at least I hope so.

Also under my little flower symbol, the Church of Saints Peter and Andrew and the Church of Saint John the Baptist were built. I've shared some photos of them here as well. As always, strolling through these villages on these beautiful cobbled streets is a pleasure because everything is well-maintained. As I mentioned before, you can see that the people here take great pride in the beauty of their village.
As usual, my advice is not only to immerse yourself in the beauty of the art and architecture of the village but also to have a culinary experience in the numerous agriturismi (farm stays) nearby, where you can undoubtedly savor the delicious products of Tuscany.

Yes I totally agree with you that Tuscany has a timeless beauty, considering that it's dated back to the 13th century. Everything is still in good condition, people must do a great job to maintain it.
