A visit to a UNESCO World Heritage site!!
Hello dearest friends,
It's been quite a few days since I last posted here, so I hope to catch up in the coming days. I have several contents that I want to share with you because I think they are truly fascinating. I must confess that these places have evoked an abundance of emotions in me. Visiting locations so rich in history has been truly impressive, especially for someone like me, passionate about culture and history in an unrestrained way.
We left off in Naples, where I had the opportunity to take a quick tour of the city, visiting its most important and, let's say, more folkloristic neighborhoods and monuments. But among all the places in the Campania region, I absolutely did not want to miss a site of cultural interest that is famous worldwide and has also become the most important in Italy: I'm talking about the archaeological site of Pompeii. It is renowned globally because it preserves, and fortunately has been unearthed, the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D.
I still remember that day when I visited this place. It was very hot, although the day promised some thunderstorms, and it was a very thrilling experience for me. This place is full of history and mystery, and already at the entrance, I was fascinated by the vastness of the site, feeling as though I had been catapulted back in time.
I devoted myself passionately to exploring the remains of this ancient city, admiring the temples, the baths, and the public buildings. It was also fascinating to try and imagine what daily life must have been like in those places. The fact that the eruption occurred so suddenly practically stopped time in this place. One of the things that impressed me the most were the artifacts left behind by the people of that era - everyday objects that had been abandoned there as people tried to seek safety and escape the eruption.
To fully explore this place, you need an entire day, or perhaps even more. There are so many highlights, such as the Villa of the Mysteries and the House of the Faun. While walking through the ancient streets, I discovered that even though many artifacts have been unearthed, there is still a vast area waiting to be excavated for new discoveries. This fact truly highlights how enormous this city was; at the time, it was a thriving and densely populated place.
I had been here before on a school trip when I was young, but I did not remember it being so large and filled with artifacts. It's worth noting that a lengthy and painstaking effort, spanning several years, was undertaken to unearth and preserve this site. Another thing I discovered while exploring these places is that I didn't know the site of Pompeii was discovered almost by chance in 1748 during excavation works for the construction of a hydraulic canal. Imagine if that work had never been planned; perhaps the site of Pompeii would have remained undiscovered - a truly astonishing thought.
Thanks to the improvements that have been made, more informative tourist routes and illustrative panels have been created to provide a better understanding of the history and architecture. This is certainly a positive development for the millions of tourists who visit this place of historical interest every year.
But at some point, after this exciting exploration, the weight of the heat and hunger started to catch up with me. So, I headed to one of the nearby restaurants and couldn't resist the irresistible scent of freshly baked pizza. I still remember that the first bite was a burst of flavors, with a crispy base and the authentic taste of local products. Truly a delicious pizza.
In the end, with a full stomach and a heart filled with gratitude for the incredible experiences, I admired once again the wonders of this ancient Italian treasure. I promised myself that I would return one day to discover even more of the hidden marvels that this site holds. I definitely left Pompeii with a smile on my lips and indelible memories of a special day filled with historical discoveries.
Thank you for reading this post; I hope you enjoyed it, and, most importantly, I invite you to visit this archaeological site because it is breathtaking. When you leave this place, it will feel like returning from another world. Thank you for your support, and I wish you all a good day.

thank you😍
Your photographs are very beautiful, but reading you I reflect as you do when I visit a place, what would it feel like to live there?
Thank you for taking us on a trip to that city. Greetings from Venezuela.
I think it was another era, so things were completely different from now, but it's nice to perceive through objects and things you see the way of thinking and doing things in the past.
Wow! You don't know how much I would like to go there. I love the history that is hidden in those places. But I am far away and at a financial disadvantage. 😔 I like all your pictures and I also "imagine what daily life must have been like in those places".
And sometimes good things happen by chance, like how they discovered this ancient roman city and how I found your account. 🤌🏻👍🏼
The ticket to get in is not so expensive, it's probably the journey that is quite costly.
