A very famous church in the world!
Hello pinmapple friends, today that a little bit of time I want to share with you this post, about a church that I am sure many of you know, and will have already visited if I have been on holiday in Tuscany, it is the famous Abbey of San Galgano, which is located in Chiusdino in the province of Siena, a place that if you are a fan of the history of sacred art you absolutely cannot miss.
What I like about this Abbey is that it is located within the beautiful Tuscan countryside and certainly if you visit this place you will find this a unique experience that will make you feel as if you had been catapulted back in time, I visited this Abbey in September last year, but from my point of view the best time to visit it, it is very well maintained because it was restored in the 19th century and practically still retains many of the original architectural elements from when it was built.
The abbey was built in this precise spot, because this is where Galgano lived, a famous hermit who converted to Christianity after seeing a vision of St Michael the Archangel, and this is where he lived the last years of his life, but for the Tuscans he became a very important saint, so they decided to build this important Abbey and as we can see from the photos it is practically without a roof, which is why it has also become a very characteristic and very touristy place.
It is a destination that you cannot miss if you are visiting the city of Siena from my. of enchanting with a mix of spirituality and something really mystical, of course the entrance to the church is charged, and I honestly don't remember the entrance fee, but anyway it was not exaggerated.
I studied for many years, this church when I was at university, for those who love art I think this place is very important, but it becomes even more important when you come to visit it in person, because when you enter this place you can feel the history touching the bricks and stones, and then it is also beautiful where this Abbey is located in the middle of the famous Tuscan countryside that you see in many films.
The church I have to say is really impressive and well kept and the lack of a roof from my point of view added value because it makes the environment even brighter, in fact it is also chosen by many photographers who come here to take lots of pictures.
I hope with my short story to have conveyed the emotions I felt during my visit to this Abbey. In my opinion it is a unique place not only in Italy but also in the world, and for those who come here on holiday in Tuscany, in my opinion it is a must-see, which you absolutely must not miss.
Thank you and I will definitely see you in my next post! Have a great day everyone!
I leave you with a video I found on Youtube, I am not able to use the drone, but here you can see it from another perspective

This abbey is so impressive as a ruin, it must have been spectacular when it was standing in its full glory. I love Tuscany and will look up this place when I will be there next time.
Thank you for sharing!
