Serra do Itaqueri and Itirapina

Earlier this month I traveled to Itirapina, a town just over two hours from my home, with my favorite adventure companion @christiantatsch. He had been there before, but for me the place was completely new and unexplored.
I was eager to get out of the city and be close to nature, even if it was just for a few days. And that was invigorating.

The place is in the middle of the Serra do Itariri, which I was completely unaware of, but which holds some treasures, such as Morro do Facão and Morro do Fogão, which can be seen in the first picture, a canyon where the Passa Cinco waterfall and Pedra do Gorila are located.

We also visited Sítio São José, home to the São José waterfall, where we stopped briefly. Then we returned to the Passa Cinco waterfall, where we set up our tent for the night. As there were no campsites - and we weren't even looking for one - we slept there, even with the little structure we had, as it was a last-minute trip, with no plans in advance.

The nature of the place is amazing and it was incredible to be able to explore the surroundings, especially the typical vegetation of the cerrado, one of Brazil's most important biomes.

During this short trip of just two days, I realized that there are so many precious treasures in this region of the state of São Paulo that I can't wait to go back and discover them all. These last photos are from Pedra do Gorila, where I also made a friend.

And finally, on the way back home, we stopped in the charming town of São Pedro, which is also in the Serra do Itatiri region, for a coffee and I caught these picturesque, rural scenes. I hope you like my pictures.
