The live chess game and the medieval event in my city.

Hello hivers, an happy Sunday to you all! Here we are having a sunny warm weekend and this is good because during these days there is a very nice event in the main square of my city (Pistoia, Italy): the medieval festivale called "1322 tempus pacis" and thinking about this hard time for many countries, I think that "tempus pacis" (in latin it means "time of peace") is full of hope. ❤️

Between a lot of different show like flag-Wavers and musicians, medieval dances, drummers and other ones, yesterday in the afternoon there was the live chess game and, like the past year, my hubby @paolobeneforti was a part of it. In the 2024 he was a horse, but this year he decided to be one of the tower and, believe me, it was really funny to see him inside of a sort of box in form of tower. 😁

This live chess game wanted to represent a fight happened in the medieval time in my city, but it was the famous chess game called "Immortal Game" played in 1851 between Adolf Anderssen and Lionel Kieseritzky.

Just to know, my hubby was inside the tower at the left of the pic!
We arrived in the square around an hour before the start of the game and there we met the other players, everyone of them had a role. The queens, kings and the horses had to wear a dress in the ancient style. The bishops had also a flag on their hands and the tower was the cardboard box to wear and it was no simple to walk along the place inside of it. 😁

I also took a lot of pics of other show during the medieval event, so I'll wrote a new content about them in the next days to show you how beautiful was the square during this weekend!

See ya soon and stay safe,
Silvia

Live chess looks like fun as long as it stays peaceful. You have some cool festivals. Enjoy!

It was really funny, dear Steve. I think the adult players had the same fun the little ones had. 😁

This is the first time I have seen such a game. And after reading your writing and seeing the pictures, it seemed like the game was very beautiful. And as you said, it is a chess game and it is famous as the ''immortal game''. Although I know nothing about this game. Thank you for sharing a beautiful moment with us.

Such a great event! A real visual feast for an eye. I wish we have such activity more often too.

This event took place at the palace Square of St.Petersburg back in 1924 ... Splendid!
