Happy Italian Republic Day!
Hello hivers, an happy June 2th to you!
Today here in Italy we celebrate the Festa della Repubblica (it means Republic Day). The main celebration taking place in Rome, but there are celebration in every city, included the city where I live.
Like every June 2th, today we commemorate the 1946 Italian institutional referendum (universal suffrage), when Italian people were called to the polls to decide on the form of government (monarchy or republic) following the Second World War and the fall of Fascism. As you can understand, people decied for a republic. Another important thing about that day of the 1946, it was the first time to vote for italian women!
Today a group of our friends from a city not so far from us came here to visit an exhibition and to spend some time together, so this morning we went in the main square of my city to drink a coffee and to see a part of the celebration.
The moment more touching was when the italian flag was place on the bell tower.
The tower is 66 meters tall (around 216 ft) and soon in the morning the firefighters placed there the long long flag. I don't have pics of that moment because when we arrived in front of the towel the flag was already there, but I was happy (and proud) to meet there one of my old schoolmate who is a firefight since a lot of years and he was part of that climbers team. ❤️

I also took a lot of pics along the walk with my friends, because one of them is a poet and artist who use to hang poems along the streets of different cities, but I'll tell you more in one of my next content. 😁
