A funny hen (oil on paper)
Hello hivers, an happy Thursday to you all! Today a pale Sun is shining between a lot of dark clouds and I really feel the need some sunny days. Later, in the afternoon, I will go to our cousin home to help the parents with their little twins (a couple of hours at week that give me a lot of positive vibes 😁), but waiting to go there I'm here to show you my recent (funny) painting.
Since some days I have an old song in my mynd, a song (an italian song by Lucio Battisti and Mogol) that tell about an hen and it started saying "La gallina coccodè..." that in italian means "the hen cackle...".
In the past I painted some different chickens and so I thought it was time to start my new small sketchbook painted one of them:
It's my own illustrated version of a amrocks hen. It's not a common hen here in my area, but I watched some of them years ago in a farm of one of my friends who has different kinds of chickens.
It's an oil colors painting on around 100 gsm paper of my new sketchbook and, like I use to do when I share a new artwork with you, I took some pics while I was painting it so you can see some steps of the process too:

I hope you like it!
See ya soon and stay safe,
Silvia

Interesting art. And how do you paint with oil paints on paper? What is the density of the paper?
I use a 200 gsm paper. To paint on paper is not so different to paint on canvas, you just need to use more turpentine to mix with colors.
So fascinating, that it turns out so nice and thin like watercolor. I have painted watercolor a lot before, but I have tried oil many times but never found it. I think your hen looks like a watercolor!
I heard that there are those who mix acrylic with oil paints, maybe I should try painting under or over....
I also painted something mixing acrylic and oil colors, not together at the same time, but when the oil is very dry I added some details with acrylic or, if I started with acrylic, I can add something using oils. I like to experiment myself using different materials and medium, it's funny and, sometimes, the result is ok. :D
I also experiment a lot. Technical exchanges are fun
It's so cute little bird! 🤗
Thanks so much, dear @torem-di-torem ❤️
