I’m hearing a funny buzzing sound!😳
Someone was tending to several of the local Bee hives, up our road! 🐝
“ Is that you Adam?”😀
Silvertop was on the other side of a tall row of Shore Pine trees, peering through the branches, trying to get a glimpse of what was going on…….. from a safe vantage point, of course, Lol!😇
Adam was outfitted in traditional beekeeping protective gear, that was my “heads up” to keep a safe distance!☺️
I remember last summer, one of my other neighbors Kurt, who is also a Beekeeper, was running through his yard, swatting at Bees as he ran!😳
He later said………..
“ Silvertop, I only got stung two or three times!”
“OK……….Kurt!”🙄
I stopped for a few minutes to chat with Adam, before I headed to the forest.
If you look at the first photo, you will notice a car battery………
It turns out that Bees don’t hibernate.
They winter in a state that is close to that, but they still need sugar water for energy to survive till spring!
They can also get “mites” and the solution is a powered form of “Oxalic acid”.
The electricity from the car battery is used to heat the powered Oxalic acid, and this essentially fogs the hive!
I asked Adam if this could hurt the Bees, and he said that they naturally produce this acid!😇
“ Very interesting Adam!”🤗
I put some distance between the Bee hives and me, and set out to enjoy some Bee free hiking on this sunny winter day Lol!😎
When @elizabethbit came home, she had numerous sunset photos to choose from…………
“ Which one should I use for tonight’s post Silvertop!” 🥰
They all look awesome honey, you choose…………and they say it rains all the time in the Pacific Northwest!☺️

With wintertime they’re really isn’t any honey production. Most of this is done during the summer months when the bees are very active.😀
