Summer is almost ending... but not until we have had our summer celebrations!

Hello there! It looks like things are getting back to normal after being on hold for two years due to Covid, like our County Fair.

I took several photos in black and white of our recent County Fair. This would be my entry to the #monomad challenge.

The Police

Our County Fair was participated by almost all branches of local government. Very visible that day was the Police Department. Some came in their black & white cars, some in motorcycles, and still others were in bicycles... which was most appropriate!

Did you notice? They don't wear the usual athletic socks on their feet, but the No-Show ones. Our police force is up-to-date in fashion!

So much fried stuff

Funnel cakes, corndogs, churros, deep-fried okras, deep-fried Oreos, deep-fried Mars Bars, elephant ears, apple fritter, fried mac n' cheese, corn fritters, beer-battered onions, fish & chips, fried calamari, fries... and the list goes on!

Umm... some went for simple foods, like kettle corn. I love kettle corn.

A warm day.

It was perfect day for ice cream! You can choose several toppings... you name it, they have it.

How about a frozen cocktail?

Or lemonade.

But favorite of all was... SHAVE ICE!

Shave ice or Hawaiian shave ice is an ice-based dessert made by shaving a block of ice and flavoring it with syrup and other sweet ingredients. On the Big Island of Hawai'i, it is also referred to as "ice shave." In contrast, a snow cone, a similar American dessert, is made with crushed ice rather than shaved ice. The thin ice shavings of shave ice allow for the flavored syrups to be absorbed completely instead of sinking to the bottom. Hawaiian shave ice is derived from a similar ice-based dessert from Japan called kakigōri and thus involves similar production methods. Source
