🌏From Tourist to Resident: Journey in the harsh land of smiles

IMG_20230617_1.jpg

Hello everyone!🖐️

My name is Sem, and I am thrilled to finally join this community. I’ve been hovering around this platform for about half a day now, soaking in the atmosphere, and I realised it’s time to stop lurking and start sharing.

I have been living in Thailand for three years now. My story is a classic transition that many dream of but few expect to be so complex: I went from being a wide-eyed regular tourist to a full-fledged resident of this beautiful country.

🐛Why this blog?

I want to start my story from the very beginning. I want to document how I arrived, the whirlwind of emotions I felt on that first day, and how those feelings have evolved into what I experience now.

To be honest, I ended up in this wonderful, yet sometimes incredibly harsh, country out of a bit of youthful stupidity and completely alone. But that’s exactly what makes the journey worth sharing.

📸 Atmospheric Reality vs. Professional Gear

I'll be straight with you: I don’t have a professional camera. My phone is, let's say, "vintage" when it comes to photography, and it takes some pretty questionable pictures. However, my goal isn't to win a National Geographic award; it’s to convey the atmosphere.

I have nearly 1.5 terabytes of video footage and screenshots backed up from my time here. Some photos might be "photoshopped" just to make them less embarrassing, while others are incredibly raw. But they are all exotic, and they are all my reality.

Whether you’re looking for a guide, a bit of inspiration, or just a window into a life built from scratch in Southeast Asia, I hope you find something interesting here. I'm moving from a background in IT and education into this new world, and I'm eager to get down to deep!

✅ The "Proof of Life"

I barely managed to find a pen and a paper plate to write my proof, but here it is! This confirms I am indeed a living creature and not a sophisticated robot (at least for today).

Thank you all so much for your attention and for welcoming me into the Hive!

With respect, Sem

Sem, I really like how you frame this as a move from “lurking” to sharing, and the part about arriving in Thailand through “youthful stupidity” but building a life there alone already makes your story feel very real. Your focus on atmosphere over perfect gear fits well with Hive, and if you want to keep documenting that transition from IT/education into Southeast Asia life, hivestats.io could be useful for tracking your account growth while you settle in. If you ever want help shaping those raw stories into polished posts, hivepro.ai can also be handy for drafting and organizing ideas. What was the first moment in Thailand that made you realize this place was going to change your life?

Hello and welcome to Hive!
I think you have an interesting story. Where are you originally from.
You're posts does have soms signs of AI usage. Be careful to keep your posts human.
Self made photographs do help. No matter how 'bad' the camera is. It's the photographer that makes great photos 😜

Thanks for the advice! I tried to use only my original archive without any AI post-processing. Sometimes the photos turn out very low quality; as I mentioned, my phone isn't very suitable for this. Sometimes they look good because I simply adjust the quality in Photoshop, but usually everything looks unprocessed. If I use any AI features, I'll be sure to add a description and warn readers in the post. Again thank you!
