The Varendra Museum: A Cultural Treasure of Bangladesh
The Varendra Museum is an important museum in Bangladesh. It is located in Rajshahi city and houses artifacts from different periods collected from different parts of Bangladesh. The museum was established in 1913 with private initiative. The main building is a single-story building, but more buildings have been built next to it in the later period. There are offices and a library in these buildings. However, only the museum section inside the main building is open to the general public.

The events of 1930 and 1945 are very important in the history of the Varendra Museum. After the death of Ayodhya Prasad Mukhopadhyay in 1930 and Sarat Chandra Roy in 1945, the museum faced a crisis in its management. These two individuals were the founders of the museum and played a pioneering role in its development. After their deaths, the development of the museum stopped.
The partition of India in 1947 was another major hurdle for the museum. As a result of the partition, many parts of the museum's collection were divided between India and Pakistan. In addition, the financial condition of the museum deteriorated after the partition.
Despite all these problems, the Varendra Museum was able to maintain its existence. In 1961, the salvaged part of the museum returned from the military hospital. Then a new library building was built with the financial assistance of the central government. Since 1961, the Varendra Museum has been on the path of development.
