🌱Planting project update 🌱 (En/Fr) - PoR 🧐

This morning, I received some organic seeds that I ordered online from an interesting website because shipping is included in the very reasonable price. You can ask me for the address in the comments if you're interested.

I received seeds of common wormwood, garden marigold, and officinal lavender.
These plants all have one thing in common: their utility, which I'll explain now. However, it's not the right time to plant them, so I'll cheat a little.

Wormwood isn't really suited to my needs; it's a garden plant and I have balconies, but I'll give it a try anyway.
The germination temperature of 15 to 18°C ​​is very suitable for the current season, and it will be a test for my indoor vegetable garden with LED lighting.
Its scent is strong and pleasant to humans, but it repels pests, especially aphids and moths. I use it in the spring to protect my oleanders, which are regularly invaded by aphids. You can also spray a wormwood maceration as a gentle insecticide for plants.
The dried leaves will be placed in my cupboards to repel moths.
It will need a sunny location, which is the case for me, and it requires little water.

Marigold is a honey plant that attracts pollinating insects.
It doesn't grow very tall, about 30 cm, and can be grown in pots.
These flowers will beautify my balcony, and they're also edible, which will be an interesting experiment.
I'm also going to try germinating them in my indoor vegetable garden to see how they turn out; I might be able to eat some of the flowers this winter.

Officinal Lavender is a particularly fragrant variety; it has the same benefits as wormwood for repelling aphids and moths.
It will therefore grow on my balcony, which is home to oleanders.
The advantage is that it's perennial, so I won't have to replant it every year, and it requires little water. It's very melliferous, like marigolds, and the dried flowers will also go in my cupboards, which will smell wonderful. If there's a bountiful harvest, I could make little gifts with them.
I'm going to try germinating them indoors again, but I'll have to wait a bit because the recommended temperature for sowing is between 20 and 25°C, and the heating isn't working in my house yet.

The second photo shows what I picked up at the end of the market this morning. I like to recycle, it's one of my contributions to cleaning up the planet.

Crates that I'll use to raise my flower pots in preparation for winter, so that the pots aren't in direct contact with the ground on my balcony, which would conduct the cold.
I'll also place the pots in cardboard boxes filled with wrapping paper or cut cardboard to protect the roots.

Egg packaging boards that I'll use as raw material for making my germination ingots (presented in another post), as an alternative to corrugated cardboard, and I'll see which one is best suited.
I haven't made much progress on this project; I can't get a satisfactory pulp without lumps, but I'm going to be given an immersion blender that should solve the problem.
In any case, I'm going to need these ingots for my indoor vegetable garden, which I'll present another time when they're ready.

J'ai reçu ce matin des graines biologiques que j'avais commandé sur internet sur un site intéressant car les frais de port sont compris dans le prix qui est très raisonnable. Vous pouvez me demander l'adresse en commentaire si vous êtes intéressé.

J'ai donc reçu des graines d'absinthe commune, de souci des jardins et de lavande officinale.
Ces plantes ont toutes un point commun, c'est leur utilité, que je vais développer maintenant. Cependant ce n'est la saison pour les planter, mais je vais tricher un peu.

L'absinthe n'est pas vraiment adaptée à mes besoins, c'est une plante de jardin et j'ai des balcons, mais je tenterai l'expérience quand même.
La température de germination, 15 à 18 °C convient très bien à la période actuelle, et ce sera un test pour mon potager d'intérieur à éclairage LED.
Son odeur est forte et agréable pour les humains mais elle repousse les parasites, en particulier les pucerons et les mites.
Je la destine au printemps à protéger mes lauriers roses qui sont régulièrement envahis de pucerons. On peut aussi pulvériser une macération d'absinthe comme insecticide doux pour les plantes.
Les feuilles séchées seront placées dans mes placards pour éloigner les mites.
Il faudra une exposition ensoleillée, ce qui est le cas chez moi, et elle demande peu d'eau.

Le souci des jardins est une plante mellifère, qui attirera les insectes pollinisateurs.
Elle ne monte pas trop, environ 30 cm et se cultive en pots.
Se fleurs embelliront mon balcon, et de plus elles sont comestibles, ce qui sera une expérience intéressante.
Je vais tenter là aussi une germination dans mon potager d'intérieur pour voir ce que ça donne, je pourrai peut être manger des fleurs cet hiver.

La lavande officinale est une variété particulièrement odorante, elle a la même utilité que l'absinthe pour repousser les pucerons et les mites.
Elle ira donc sur mon balcon qui accueille les lauriers roses.
L'avantage c'est qu'elle est vivace, je n'aurai donc pas à en replanter tous les ans, et elle demande peu d'eau.
Elle est très mellifère comme le souci, et les fleurs séchées iront aussi dans mes placards, qui vont sentir très bon, en cas de récolte abondante je pourrai en faire des petits cadeaux.
Là encore je vais tester la germination intérieure, mais je dois attendre un peu car la température conseillée pour le semis est entre 20 et 25°C, et le chauffage ne fonctionne pas encore chez moi.

La deuxième photo montre ce que j'ai récupéré en fin de marché ce matin. J'aime bien recycler, c'est une de mes participations pour nettoyer la planète.

Des caissettes qui vont me servir à surélever mes pots de fleurs en prévision de l'hiver, afin que les pots ne soient pas en contact direct avec le sol de mon balcon qui conduirait le froid.
Je mettrai de plus les pots dans des cartons remplis de papier d'emballage ou de carton découpé pour protéger les racines.

Des plaques d'emballage pour les œufs qui me serviront de matière première pour la fabrication de mes lingots de germination (présentés dans un autre post), en alternative du carton ondulé, et je verrai lequel est le plus adapté.
Je n'ai pas trop avancé sur ce projet, je n'arrive pas à obtenir une pulpe satisfaisante sans morceaux, mais on va me donner un mixeur plongeur qui devrait résoudre le problème.
De toutes façon je vais avoir besoin de ces lingots pour mon dispositif de potager d'intérieur que je présenterai une autre fois quand ils seront prêts.
