Hello my dear Lovers of Photography and Visual Arts, once again it is a great happiness for me to be able to share my work with you. Today I will present again part of my Photographic Transcendence to the Visual Arts, in this case I will do it specifically with a style that I have been developing for several months, which I call "Neon Photography".
Unlike the styles that I had been developing previously, here I give a greater transformation to the image, resulting in less conservation of the essence of the original photograph, although of course preserving the forms of the beings or objects that I have originally photographed. .
To talk about this photographic style, I am going to present 2 of my best works in this regard, which I have already coined and even sold on the Woonkly platform. As I have done before, I am going to present the original photographs and those taken by me, which gave rise to these works. I am also going to present a comparison so that you can see the original image and the finished work together, so that you can appreciate very properly the pleasures changed by me through digital retouching and the application of filters.

The first work that I have presented to you at the beginning of the post, my dear Doctor von Catstein, derives from a simple photograph that I took of a neighbor's cat. This cat lies down on the wall of the garage of my neighbor's house, which has an opening for ventilation and bars, from which this cute kitten looks out. As the bars are higher than the ground level of the street (from where I was) I obtained this low angle shot.
Here I want to confess that the photograph I took is quite ordinary and that I would never have presented it as a photograph in itself; since honestly there is nothing special about it, except for the contrast created by the street lights and the darkness of the night. However, since I had to use a low exposure and I took the photo without a tripod or any other support, the cat's face looks a little moved and this already makes it lose its quality as a photograph.
Here I want to emphasize that although I maintain that to make this type of art, a good photograph will always be needed as a base canvas, there are some rare occasions where we can transform an ordinary photograph or a photo that is not very good; in a wonderful work of which we can be proud, although of course this does not always happen, but if you have the time and the patience it is worth trying.
As you can see immediately in the purchase, I have included a couple of small digital elements to enrich the atmosphere of the image, I don't always like this; Usually when I include digital elements in my Photography-based Visual Arts, I do it forcefully and not as shyly as in this case, but I decided that the terrible Doctor von Catstein should have some rays in the background, that is essential to honor this character by Mary Shelly.
By transforming the photograph I was also able to correct the out of focus defect in the cat's face, when I saw that I could do this, I was motivated and continued working on the image until I was satisfied and could conclude the work. The result not only left me very happy, but also this is one of my favorite works among those I have created.

One of the things that I liked the most about my Neon Photography is that the images take on a lot of strength when I transform them by applying these techniques, here the textures of the images are very prominent and I can also create a very strong irruption of the reality; almost as if it took things to another dimension (or at least that's how I feel).
The title of this work is due to a song by the Swedish metal band Arch Enemy, while I was working on the work the piece that bears the same title began to play repeatedly in my head and suddenly I had the crazy idea that this interstellar robot could be the perfect star breaker.
In this piece I began to apply a new element with which I continue to experiment, it is these characteristic luminous edges that frame the main shapes of the image. The reason I started applying this is that when I finished applying the filters, it seemed to me that the image was very flat and the shapes of this monstrous robot did not look good at all.
As you can see in the comparison, the work would not have been satisfactory at all if I hadn't added these edges, since I would be wasting the original textures that this robot gave me when I photographed it. I created the borders in a very simple way using Photoshop's brush tool, I went over the borders freehand and while I was doing it, very beautiful memories of when I was a child and I drew came to mind.
To make the edges shine, I used the layer style tools that Photoshop also offers, using those tools I added that bright sparkle to the edges. also to achieve this I had to create two different layers for the color red and yellow; because each had to be given the brightness of its own color.
This work is composed of the primary colors (yellow, blue and red) however I have only highlighted yellow and red which are the two most outstanding colors; I have left the blue without highlighting to create contrast and therefore depth in the work. Now let me introduce you to the original photograph:
This robot is an original creation of the Artist Jony Trujillo (you can see his works on Instagram) I took a photo of this robot during an exhibition that took place in a shopping center from my city, Guatire (Miranda State, Venezuela). As with Doctor von Catstein, the photograph I took was nothing special; in fact I criticized myself severely for this, however I decided to save the photo to experiment with it, the result was also a great work that I am super happy with.
And so I end this first sample of my Neon Photography, in this case I have taken the opportunity to also show how you can take advantage of photographs that are not really very good and give them an opportunity in your work.

Hola mis queridos y queridas Amantes de la Fotografía y de las Artes Visuales, nuevamente es una felicidad enorme para mí poder compartir mi trabajo con ustedes. El día de hoy les presentaré nuevamente parte de mi Trascendencia Fotográfica a las Artes Visuales, en este caso lo haré especificamente con un estilo que he venido desarrollando desde hace varios meses, al cual denomino como "Fotografía de Neón".
A diferencia de los estilos que había venido desarrollando anteriormente, aquí le doy una mayor transformanción a la imagen, dando como resultado una menor conservación de la escencia de la fotografía original, aunque por supuesto conservando las formas de los seres u objetos que he fotografiado originalmente.
Para hablar sobre este estilo fotográfico voy presentar 2 de mis mejores obras al respecto, las cuales ya acuñé e incluso vendí en la plataforma Woonkly. Al igual que lo he hecho anteriormente, voy a presentar las fotografías originales y tomadas por mí, que le dieron origen a estas obras. También voy a presentar una comparación para que puedan ver conjuntamente la imagen original y la obra terminada, de modo que se aprecien con mucha propiedad los cambiados agrados por mí mediante el retoque digital y la aplicación de filtros.

La primera obra que les he presentado al inicio del post, mi querido Doctor von Catstein, deriva de una simple fotografía que le tomé al gato de un vecino. Este gato se acuesta sobre el muro del garaje de la casa de mi vecino, el cual tiene una abertura para ventilación y rejas, desde las cuales este simpático gatito se pone a ver hacía afuera. Como las rejas están más altas que el nivel del suelo de la calle (desde donde yo estaba) obtuve este plano contrapicado.
Aquí quiero confesar que la fotografía que tomé es bastante ordinaria y que jamás la hubiera presentado como fotografía en sí; ya que sinceramente no tiene nada de especial, salvo el constraste creado por las luces de la calle y la oscuridad de la noche. Sin embargo como tuve que utilizar baja exposición e hice la foto sin trípode ni ningún otro soporte, el rostr del gato se ve un poco movido y esto ya hace que pierda su calidad como fotografía.
Aquí quiero destacar, que si bien yo sostengo que para hacer este tipo de arte siempre hará falta una buena fotografía como lienzo base, existen algunas contadas ocasiones donde podemos transformar una fotografía ordinaria o una foto que no es muy buena; en una obra maravillosa de la cual podremos estar orgullosos, aunque por supuesto esto no siempre sucede, pero si tienes el tiempo y la paciena vale la pena intentarlo.
Como puede verse inmediatamente en la compración, he incluido un par de pequeños elementos digitales para enriquecer la atmósfera de la imagen, esto no siempre me gusta; generalmente cuando incluyo elementos digitales en mis Artes Visuales basadas en Fotografía, lo hago de manera contundente y no tan tímida como en este caso, pero decidí que el terrible Doctor von Catstein debía tener unos rayos de fondo, eso es elemental para homenajear a este personaje de Mary Shelley.
Al transformar la fotografía también logré corregir el defecto del desenfocado en el rostro del gato, cuando ví que pude hacer esto, me motivé y seguí trabajando la imagen hasta darme por satisfecho y poder dar por concluida la obra. El resultado no solo me dejó muy contento, sino que además esta es una de mis obras favoritas entre las que he creado.

Una de las cosas que más me ha gustado de mi Fotografía de Neón, es que las imágenes cobran mucha fuerza cuando las transformo aplicando estas técnicas, aquí se manifiestan con mucho protagonismo las texturas de las imágenes e igualmente puedo crear una irrupción muy fuerte de la realidad; casi como si llevara las cosas a otra dimensión (o al menos así lo siento yo).
El título de esta obra se debe a una canción de la banda de metal sueca Arch Enemy, mientras trabajaba en la obra la pieza que lleva el mismo título comenzó a sonar repetidamente en mi cabeza y de repente se me ocurrió la loca idea de que este robot interestelar podría ser el rompedor de estrellas perfecto.
En esta pieza comencé a aplicar un nuevo elemento con el cual sigo experimentando, se trata de estos caracteristicos bordes luminosos que enmarcan las formas principales de la imagen. La razón por la que comencé a aplicar esto es que cuando terminé de aplicar los filtros, me pareció que la imagen era muy plana y las formas de este mosntruoso robot no lucían para nada.
Como pueden ver en la comparación, la obra no hubiera sido nada satisfactoria sino hubiera agregado estos bordes, ya que estaría desperdiciando las texturas orginales que me regaló este robot al fotografiarlo. Creé los bordes de una manera muy sencilla utilizando la herramienta de pincel de Photoshop, los bordes los repasé a mano alzada y mientras lo hacía vinieron a mi mente recuerdos muy hermosos de cuando era niño y dibujaba.
Para hacer brillar los bordes, me valí de las herramientas para estilo de capa que ofrece también Photoshop, utilizando esas herramientas le agregué ese destello brillante a los bordes. también para lograr esto tuve que crear dos capas diferentes para el color rojo y amarillo; pues a cada había que darle el brillo de su propio color.
Esta obra está compuesta por los colores primarios (amarillo, azul y rojo) sin embargo solamente he destacado el amarillo y el rojo que son los dos colores más resaltantes; el azul lo he dejado sin resaltar para crear constraste y por ende profundidad en la obra. Este robot es una creación original del Artista Jony Trujillo (pueden ver sus obras en Instagram) tomé la foto de este robot durante una exibición que se realizó en un centro comercial de mi ciudad, Guatire (Estado Miranda, Venezuela). Al igual que sucedió con el Doctor von Catstein, la fotografía que tomé no fue nada especial; de hecho yo mismo me critiqué severamente por esto, sin embargo decidí guardar la foto para experimentar con ella, el resultado también fue una obra genial con la que estoy súper contento.
Y así finalizo esta primera muestra de mi Fotografía de Neón, en este caso he aprovechado la oportunidad para también mostrar cómo pueden aprovecharse fotografías que realmente no son muy buenas y darles una oportunidad en tu obra.
