Beer Tasting 🍺 Nero Stout 🍺 Banquise Attack Double IPA
Hello, beer lovers! 🍻
How are you? Strange days here, yesterday a snow and wind storm, today sunny and warm. It feels like it’s already April, when the weather is so unpredictable. But it’s not yet. Still, today is #BeerSaturday, 456 in a row. :)

I have one bottle and one can in front of me: a Croatian can and a French bottle, very different beers.
I’m ready to empty them and share the experience with you.
Let’s go!
First, the one with less alcohol.
Nero Stout

Brewed by The Garden Brewery, Zagreb, Croatia.
Can, 0.33 l, alcohol 5.7% ABV, IBU 30. Milk stout style, dark beer.
What do the Master Brewers say?
Breakfast Stout, made with oats, lactose, and an experimental hop from Slovenia. Dark and smooth with notes of coffee and chocolate.
Short and concise!

The beer is dark brown, with a solid, creamy brown head. It smells of roasted oats. It goes down smoothly, and in my mouth I taste the bittersweet flavor of dark chocolate and coffee, with hints of caramel.
Only the bitterness of the coffee lingers in the aftertaste for a while.

A tasty and drinkable beer!
Although sweet, it isn’t too heavy - velvety smooth, with a good balance between roastiness and sweetness. For fans of dry and very roasted stouts, it might be too mild and too sweet, but it suits me just fine. I picked it up in Rijeka, at the Tower Center, on the ground floor, at the Megamarket Spar, for €2.30.
Did I mention that I was in Rijeka on Wednesday?
Yeah, I was taking photos of chimneys. But then I also found Beer Heaven :)

And here's a photo from Friday - a total snowstorm!

We're off to France!
Banquise Attack Double IPA

Brewed by Brasserie Chromatique, Saint-Léonard, Hauts-de-France, France.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 7.7% ABV, IBU 77. Double or Imperial IPA style.
What do the Master Brewers say?
A Double IPA with a double dry hop featuring Mosaic, Cascade, and Talus. It has a bold bitterness followed by a hop punch with lovely notes of citrus and tropical fruit! A hop punch right in your face!
🍺

The beer has a slightly cloudy orange color, and the head is solid but fades quickly. It smells of tropical fruits. It goes down smoothly, and I taste a distinct bitterness - a real burst of hops that develops into flavors of grapefruit, mango, pineapple, and citrus.
The bitterness lingers in the aftertaste for quite some time.

A refreshing and very drinkable beer!
A direct and powerful burst of bitterness that is subsequently overwhelmed by flavors of tropical fruit and citrus. It’s not overly sweet or juicy like modern NEIPAs, but rather an aggressive, solid Double IPA with balanced bitterness and fruity notes, plus a strong French character (I’m mainly referring to the 7.7% ABV). An old-school DIPA. I got it from a friend who brought it back from France; the price there is €3.50.
I’d love to have it in my fridge, but I won’t, because there’s no importer...

And what am I listening to when writing this and tasting beer? Something from Friday's #newtunes. Aka James Bond theme but not.

The Nero stout seems like my type of beer. I'll try any stout beer
The right decision! Cheers!
