Beer Tasting Blanche de Namur
Hello, beer lovers! 🍻
I'm home again, it's Saturday again, and it's #beersaturday again, the 425th in a row, which I won't miss.
In the afternoon, I did some work in the field, picking cherry tomatoes. I should have done it earlier, because it rained for two days, and the skin usually cracks after rain. Quite a few of them were like that. It wasn't particularly hot, nor was I thirsty.
But when I finish, I have a pleasant break with a beer in mind.
There is a bottle waiting for me in the fridge, which I will gladly empty and share the experience with you. Usually, on such occasions, I try two beers, but you will find out for yourselves why I am only trying one today.
Blanche de Namur Witbier
Brewed by Brasserie du Bocq, Yvoir, Région Wallonne, Belgium.
Bottle, 0.75 l, alcohol 4.5 ABV, IBU 11. Wheat beer.
What do the Master Brewers say?
Cloudy, smooth, and mellow, the Blanche de Namur is a very high-quality wheat beer. From the first sip, you will feel all its roundness and its delicacy that make it an outstanding wheat beer. Delicate fruity aroma, revealing the spices used: coriander and bitter orange.
Its qualities and the brewery’s know-how earned it the honour of being named the best wheat beer in the world (2009), and a Bronze medal in the Brussels Beer Challenge 2022.
Based on what I read, I can expect something extraordinary. I am already looking forward to it.
The beer is cloudy yellow in color, with a generous, creamy head. It has a herbal and citrus aroma. It goes down smoothly, with a slight sweetness and bitterness on the palate, dominated by coriander, possibly cumin, and citrus notes, probably from orange peel.
The coriander lingers in the aftertaste for some time.
A delicious wheat beer with a predominant aroma of coriander and some citrus in the background. I can't stand fresh coriander in food and was skeptical, but this one is probably made from dried seeds, which have a different aroma and give this beer a specific taste. Whether it's still the best wheat beer in the world, I would not dare to guess.
Here, it is occasionally available in local stores, in smaller 0.33 L bottles. I received this as a gift, kudos to @miljo76.
Since it was a large bottle, I intended to drink one glass each with my wife, but she wasn't interested. And since beer, especially wheat beer, goes bad if it stands, I had to finish it myself. It wasn't difficult :) 😜
Meanwhile, for a change, I'm not listening to new music from Friday's New Tunes selection, but I'm watching a recording of presentations at Hive-Summit 2025, Aachen, which started today.
Fascinating guests, I recommend watching it when you have time.
Thank you for your attention!

I watched a little of the summit live, but want to see more. Maybe tomorrow.
Get those tomatoes cooked down!
Watch the part of a newbie.
Cherry tomatoes will be cooked today :)
Blanche de Namur Witbier, which won the title of best wheat beer in the world in 2009, is a great example of how great it is. I'm sure I'll be able to drink this cloudy yellow beer one day. With its herbal and citrus aromas, this slightly hoppy and bitter beer will help you escape the fatigue of working in the fields.
It was good, yes, and very aromatic.
I would love to really taste this beers some day. The bottle actually looks like a wine bottle
Cheers to more
That's true. It really looks like a wine bottle.
Glad you liked it, cheers! 🍻
