Snow Snow and More Snow, New Photos

It's been snowing a bit in my area. Ok, it's been snowing a ton! We aren't having the biggest year yet since I've lived here in Truckee, however we are getting close...

I was planning on taking Quill dog for a snowshoe hike yesterday afternoon, but after trying it in the backyard before I left, I decided not to bring him. It was just too deep. I was ok with my snowshoes so I walked down the street to Alder Creek for a little photography fun.

As you can see in the photos, Alder Creek is buried in areas and was a bit sketchy to walk near. I didn't want to fall through the snow into the creek. It was great exercise and I ended up with a few keeper photos:

These were all shot with a Canon 5DS R and a 24-105mm lens, handheld with no tripod or filters. I was trying to keep things simple and not add a bunch of weight, it was a tough enough hike as is. Fortunately, someone had already broken trail so some areas of my hike were a bit easier than others.

We've been getting some surprise colorful sunsets lately that were not in the forecast, so since I had some free time, I thought I'd cross my fingers and go for it. Nope... It was a dud sunset. There was a touch of warmth to the sky as you can see below, but not what I was hoping for. Oh, well, it was fun to get out.

Thank you for looking and I hope you are all having a great day!

So much snow! That second-to-last photograph is so striking - it almost looks like a subtle pencil drawing. What an amazing capture. Thanks for sharing these. 😊

Thank you! Glad you like them. And yes, I really like how that that one ended up looking like a pencil drawing as well. Fun hike!

The snow is really piling up! Nice photos. I like the almost all white one of the trees.

I love the snow but it's getting to be a bit much... So much snow removal.
That one seems to be a favorite of a lot of people, I might have to print it up soon. Cheers!

Awesome shots!

We also had snow like this two weeks ago but now it has been raining heavily and all the snow melts. Many places are flooding heavily 😀

Thanks @greddyforce! Bummer about the rain, we had some rain a week or two ago but fortunately, no flooding here or in town this time. My unfinished basement has flooded in the past when it's rained a lot on top of snow, not fun. Hope you get some fresh snow soon! I'd send you some of ours if I could.

Well, hopefully the snow will motivate you for some traveling soon! I love it, but I did not grow up with snow when I was young either.

Looks like great fun. I used snowshoes for the first time last year. This looks ready for them! We are supposed to get another good dump of snow next weekend, only about a 4 inch base so far.

Hopefully you'll get some more snow soon, we have plenty to share if you want some... Snowshoeing is a lot of fun, especially with the camera. But dang, it's a lot of exercise when there's this much of it. Cheers!

Thank you @sunscape! It was such a peaceful hike indeed. Lots of loud noises in the neighborhood today, all the snow removal equipment out is full force. Cheers!

Thanks, it sure does… I haven’t seen any snow since 8 years… so ending up with our country move from Spain right into 30 cm of snow is magical.
I did built a snowman ☃️ today hahaha 🤣
Catching up now on hive and hope to update on posts too very soon 😎
Have a great mid week!

Wow! It looks beautiful all in white! Snow is something I really like, I haven't had the opportunity to see it live, but here in your photos it looks great, very good photos by the way! ✔️💯.

Now that is a lot of snow ❤ @scottshots! I love the close up of the tree
with its knobby branches loaded with snow and the little bits of
green moss. Quite the snow canyon to get to the creek! ❄ :-)

I've lived in areas that get a ton of rain, I prefer the snow... Thank you and glad you like the photos!

Your photos proof that Sierra has enough snow and the politicians should not complain mega-drought anymore.

Seriously! But I'm 100% positive we will still be hearing "drought, drought, drought" this summer...
