#187 Edition: Our Famous Flores de Mayo
Hello ladies of Hive! The month of May serves as the month of flowers since flowers tend to bloom during this season hence there are several festivals held everywhere in the 3 big islands in the Philippines. The Philippines is a highly Catholic country where "Sagalas" are usually sponsored by the Catholic churches.
On the above photo is a memoir of my eldest daughter where she won as the Princess of Flowers. I made that vintage attire too.
I was watching TikTok on the social media recently and it was one of the Sagalas held somewhere.
Otherwise known as Sagala, Flores de Mayo (Flowers of May) is a month-long festival of the Catholic church here in the Philippines. It can be considered an old tradition that can be traced back during the Spanish colonization in the Philippines. Flores de Mayo is celebrated in honor of the blessed Virgin Mary which features floral offerings, daily prayers and processions. It is also a reenaction of Queen Helena's search of the true cross so they say.
On the other hand, I have also witnessed a veteran's parade but am not quite sure if it is held on this same month.
During months of May, my garden is filled with different flowers in full bloom! My ornamental plants exude dark green leaves as if welcoming the rainy month of May.

My rose vine can climb over our terrace if I let it grow higher!
Gardenia has been my favorite flower since I was a kid. I love the pure white beauty with its feminine scent oozing early in the morning when I do my morning tour.
The fresh looking sight of my peace Lily flowers aligned beside our fence looks attractive that the passersby would stop and admire these beauties that surrounded my front gardens.
The healthy leaves of my caladiums looks more attractive when it rains too.
Even my hanging plants look greener during the rainy days of May. Truth be told, the rain came at last after the long hot season and this is something that we should be more thankful of when the months of May comes because it spells bounty.

Yes dear. There's bounty when the rain comes especially in the farms where water is the main source of their livelihood. Luckily, we have abundant free flowing water in our place where we can also drink since it's not chlorinated.

Thanks dear! Yes, looking at my plants every morning indeed makes my day. They seem to rejoice when it rains. It's different from watering them yourself. It's like a taste from mother nature. Our weather in Canlaon City is cooler compared to other neighboring towns hence our plants grow abundantly. Thanks for the visit dear!
