Walking between the rocks that connect Playa El Agua and Playa Parguito [ENG-ESP]

Hello Worldmappin community, I'm Santiago121 and today I'm sharing our adventure on that rocky stretch between El Agua and Parguito beaches on Margarita Island, Venezuela. It's neither a beach nor a path, just rocks and sea. If you want to try it, I recommend you take your time.

I went with my mom and sister early on a Saturday morning. We wanted to get to Parguito from Playa El Agua without using the highway. Since the sun was already hot, we wore sandals so we wouldn't burn our feet. At first, near the beach, the ground is wet sand and small pebbles, relatively comfortable. But suddenly the rocks become large and treacherous. They look like black monsters that the sea has been wearing away for years. Some are smooth, others have sharp edges, and many are covered with slimy algae, and I could feel my sandals sinking into the gaps between the rocks.

The coolest thing was feeling the sea in a different way. On the beach, you only hear waves, but here, each crash of water against stone echoes differently. Sometimes a wave jumps up and wets your legs without warning. I stopped to watch the water enter the gaps between the rocks and come out bubbling like little waterfalls. It was very beautiful to see and satisfying.

And in the pools left behind by the low tide, there is a hidden world. We saw black crabs running and hiding quickly, snails stuck to the rocks, and even a tiny starfish. It was my first time seeing a wild starfish. I wanted to take out my cell phone to take a picture, but at that moment I stepped on a slimy rock and almost slipped. My mom yelled, "Be careful!" but then we laughed. We also saw little silver fish that sparkled and disappeared. It's like a miniature world that you only see if you bend down and wait.

As I said, I almost slipped twice. Flip-flops don't grip well on wet seaweed. I didn't hurt myself, but I did get scared. That's why I advise you to walk carefully and keep your phone safely tucked away. My mom almost lost a flip-flop because a big wave came and swept it away, but in the end we rescued it with a stick, ha ha ha, how funny.

When we were arriving at Parguito, in an area with natural pools, we saw two fishermen sitting on the high rocks. They didn't have nets, just fishing rods with hooks. One of them had just caught a small silver fish. He explained that they fish for mullet and small snapper there when the tide comes in. He said that the bait goes on the hook and then you wait for it to bite, as he cast the line back into the water.

Finally, after about thirty minutes of jumping between the rocks, we reached the sand at Parguito with our shoes full of wet sand and our feet tired.

It was a different kind of plan. It's not your typical beach walk, but it has its own beauty. Discovering animals in the rocks, watching fishermen use only a hook and patience. All of that made me think that sometimes the simplest things are the most special.

Hola comunidad de Worldmappin, soy Santiago121 y hoy les comparto nuestra aventura en ese tramo rocoso entre las Playas El Agua y Parguito en la Isla de Margarita, Venezuela. No es playa ni camino, solo piedras y mar, si quieren intentarlo les digo que vayan sin muchos apuros.

Fui con mi mamá y mi hermana un sábado temprano. Queríamos llegar a Parguito desde Playa El Agua sin usar la carretera. Como el sol ya calentaba llevábamos cholas para no quemarnos los pies. Al principio cerca de la playa el agua, el piso es de arena húmeda y piedritas pequeñas relativamente cómodo. Pero de repente las rocas se vuelven grandes y traicioneras. Parecen monstruos negros que el mar ha ido desgastando por años. Unas son lisas, otras tienen bordes filosos y muchas están cubiertas de algas babosas y sentía cómo las cholas se hundían en los huecos entre las piedras.

Lo más chévere fue sentir el mar de otra manera. En la playa solo escuchas olas, pero aquí cada choque de agua contra piedra retumba distinto. A veces una ola salta y te moja las piernas sin avisar. Me detuve a ver cómo el agua entraba en los huecos entre las rocas y salía burbujeando como en pequeñas cascadas. Era algo muy bonito de ver y satisfactorio

Y en los charcos que deja la marea baja, hay un mundo escondido. Vimos cangrejos negros corriendo y escondiéndose rápido, caracoles pegados a las piedras y hasta una mini estrella de mar. Mi vez viendo una estrella de mar salvaje. Quise sacar el celular para foto, pero en ese momento pise una roca babosa y casi me resbalo. Mi mama gritó cuidado pero después nos reímos. También vimos pececitos plateados que brillaban y desaparecían. Es como un mundo miniatura que solo ves si te agachas y esperas.

Como ya les dije casi me resbalé dos veces. Las cholas no agarran bien en las algas mojadas. No me lastimé, pero si me asuste. Por eso les aviso que vayan con pies firmes y el teléfono bien guardado. Mi mamá casi pierde una chola porque vino una ola grande y se la quitó y se fue flotando, pero al final la rescatamos con un palito jajaja jajaja que cómico.

Cuando estábamos llegando a Parguito, en una zona con piscinas naturales, vimos a dos pescadores sentados en las rocas altas. No tenían redes, solo cañas de pescar con anzuelos. Uno de ellos acababa de sacar un pez pequeño plateado. Nos explicó que ahí pescan lisas y pequeños pargos cuando sube la marea. Dijo que la carnada va en el anzuelo y luego a esperar que pique, mientras lanzaba el hilo otra vez al agua.

Al final, después de unos treinta minutos saltando entre las piedras, llegamos a la arena de Parguito con las cholas llenas de arena mojada y los pies cansados.

Fue un plan diferente. No es el típico paseo playero, pero tiene su belleza. Descubrir animales en las piedras, ver cómo los pescadores usan solo un anzuelo y paciencia. Todo eso me hizo pensar que a veces lo simple es lo más especial.
