What's the special place in your hometown ?

What makes it special for you?

SHOW ME YOUR SPECIAL PLACE.png

After a long time, I got an opportunity to visit a very special place in my home town, a natural treadmill in the mountains filled with lush green, with some memories from three decades back. My friend regularly goes for walk at this place and after repeated requests, I decided to join him in the morning, instead of going to play football.

At the start of the road this small shop shows the dedication of this old man who opens his shop at 5'o clock in the morning without fail - a smiling face irrespective of what he earns made us stop for a while and talk to him.

The dense forest on both sides of the road makes it a unique attraction for all the health conscious people who prefer this place for jogging.

Couple of boys holding tender coconuts who did not want to show up their face - freebies collected from the jungle, an extra bonus of jogging.

A blissful walk to the top we did not feel any exhaustion, so went further down on the other side and look at the ambience - you won't get a place like this anywhere in city.

Came back and stopped at this cute mini temple, that has been established in recent years, on the peak of this small mountain.

So what makes this place unique bearing some fun memories ? This is the place where the first water supply project of the city near to my native was started five decades back. Back in our twenties we would often go to a village on the other side to play cricket. Because of scarcity, not all had bicycles, so three of us would go on a bicycle and as it was difficult to drive carrying three people, the person sitting on the back would also put his leg to drive the bicycle - we called it double pedaling then. Anyone remembers that ? Probably something that only our generation enjoyed last, the famous Generation X. And the person sitting in front, has to take charge if the driver wants to rest, otherwise he will be dropped midway - so much fun in those simple things.

Then after few years, a beer factory was established on the base of the mountain because villagers protested setting it up near the village. And then we stopped going there, because of the fear that, someone will presume we are going to beer factory and will tell our parents. That was the kind of ethics we were grown up with - reminding those times brought back a nice memory back - how innocent and well administered we were!!

The water treatment plan has been defunct and closed.

Coming back, this beautiful pathway caught our attention and we extended our walk to the other side.

The government has declared this as an Industrial zone and someone has acquired a massive area setting up a beautiful house in the front. We decided to return from there as I was heartbroken - they should have set up something environment friendly instead. Humanity is the biggest destroyer of nature.

An ancient building being restored by the government but then lying abandoned - they should have leveraged the beautiful ambience to build something better attracting public.

And our stop comes - my friend told me you have good stamina - come on, exercise is the top priority of my daily routine, I can go again and come back :)

I can easily relate, what it means to be grown up with such ethics. I think such things are only possible in small town and cities. It seems to a perfect beginng of the day in the Woods. You looks more fitter now....

Yes, it's still small though it has expanded a lot.

What's the special place in your hometown?

Our basketball Arena.

What makes it special for you?

For me that place is special mostly because I used to go there with my dad(while he was still alive) to watch basketball games of our favorite team.

All the places where I can remember my little mother are special and at the same time where I spent a large part of my youth with my sisters.

Without a doubt, the little hill behind my grandmother's house was where a parrot used to ride and even when I want to find myself again, I go there and sit on a rock to contemplate where I grew up. At the same time, I observe a part of the nature we have.

Humanity is the biggest destroyer of nature.

So sad but so very true.
That is a great place for a good walk, but deary me you local government could have do so many better things than what they have decided on.

Corruption is the biggest hurdle in my country, most projects are executed without a long term vision and tracking, after few years, it gets ruined and they again bring up one more project.

I loved the memories of you and your mate on bikes and what good boys you were, worried about your reputation at the beer factory!

It's nice that you got out in nature and had a good time with your friend. I loved hearing about your special place @sanjeevm !

What a beautiful place to walk. My favorite part is that trail that looks so wooded. It's a pity that the government doesn't take better care of the place, that abandoned building could be a good place for a visitor's center with information about the area. But anyway in my country it's the same, they never do what they could do...

It's great that you have those memories of your childhood on those roads. In our childhood we knew how to have fun with little, right? not like the kids nowadays.

We have a number of parks, some are small, others are spacious. We live near a beach, and there's a Baywalk too.

Haha stamina is the key to discovering all of those wonderful places off the beaten track
IMG_6165.JPG

There are a few neat places around here but not with the history that comes with your part of the world. This is a neat one for me because it is where the old meets the new. A church in the middle of town built in 1896 and transformed into a restaurant preserving the historical features.

Here's to discovering our own local wonderful history and features!
