Happy Diwali

May this Diwali illuminate our lives with happiness, harmony and prosperity.

Diwali is one of our most significant and widely observed festival celebrated across the world and I take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Happy Diwali. After coming from our trip to Ujjain, I have not got time to write posts as we were busy doing some shopping for this major festival and even met with an unfortunate incidence in which a person recklessly backed his car and hit my car while we were all sitting inside. Thankfully the damage was less as he was able to hear as we screamed , more to come on that.

Crackers (fireworks) are an essential part of this festival and this year even though kids agreed to cut short on the budget, we ended up spending close to 3k on crackers, that too from the wholesale market near my native. The same amount of crackers cost the double here because of the licensing cost and set up. For kids, crackers make this festival special and we have brought only non-bursting crackers but I will still have to watch them carefully.

This year, our daughter wanted to decorate the house with lights and Rangoli and I was more than happy to assist her with all the purchase as that showcases the traditional values associated with our festivals. She is very specific on what she wants and we were able to find out her choice of lights after roaming through several shops which were all crowded. This year the weekend before the festival brought a nice opportunity to prepare better for the festival and that is the reason the price has sky rocketed, but I was still happy to see her curiosity to decorate the house - these are the occasions when you feel the difference of a girl child taking interest in making the festival special.

She has spent the entire day to put up this Rangoli and decorate the door with lights - we loved to see her patience reflecting in this nice decoration. She has even prepared few diyas (small earthen lamps) during her leadership camps and are going to illuminate them and add to these.

We brought couple of flower garlands to add to the decoration and I was shocked with the price they quoted - triple the normal price, so you can imagine how enthusiastic people are to celebrate this festival.

I will share pics from our celebration, wish you all a very happy and safe Diwali - make sure to watch out the kids when they burst the fire crackers.

And by the way, my son @shreyansh started to publish content on the chain after a very long time, kindly give him some support on his second introductory post.

Happy Diwali @sanjeevm! Your daughter must have had fun with all the decorations!
Here in Durban the skies will be lit with sparkling lights. I used to get boxes of the sweet meats but moved house and my friends live too far now.

Wow!! Happy Diwali 🪔. I've heard it's the most important Hindu festival, which symbolizes the victory of light over darkness.

I always appreciate your culture, @sanjeevm, for its beautiful colors and striking blend. Greetings and an excellent day to you and your family!! 🤝😉

Happy Diwali! Very nice bright colors!

Sorry about your car...

What does this symbol mean?

It looks like Nazi Germany stole this symbol from Diwali?

(Edited)

Not really, its a Rangoli with the text being Happy Diwali in our language :). And the Hindu Swastika symbol inside is a sacred symbol of well-being, prosperity, and good fortune.

May be the Nazis stole that :)

Friend, I have always said that your culture is excellent, at the same time sharing the decorations in your house is incredible, great work, what you did, what I don't like much is fireworks. I had a bad experience when I was younger and since then I am not passionate about them, on the contrary, I try to stay as far away as possible.

Firecrackers are dangerous, especially on such a special date for you in your culture, where you celebrate like that. Thank God your accident didn't get any worse, and everyone is fine. Happy Diwali to you and your family. May prosperity always guide you.

Happy Diwali, my friend. It's very important for children to value holidays and special days like this. The more the next generation is attached to traditions and the better they can blend them with innovation, the better.

yes, we often try to attach them to our traditions, they are the ones who will carry these values to the next generation and these are some values that AI can never replace.
