Don Catrin de la Fachenda (conceitedness ) // Monomad Challenge

The first time I came across the term “catrin” was in a novel titled The Life and Deeds of the Famous Knight Don Catrin de la Fachenda. He was a good-for-nothing, obsessed with dressing well, feigning nobility, and completely unproductive. That’s why “catrin” can be used as an insult, although the true origin of the term “catrin” is related to men who dress very elegantly. However, in the context of the Day of the Dead, the Catrin is the male counterpart to the well-known Catrina. He is also depicted with the typical skull makeup and very elegant attire. Although, like the Catrina, his makeup may include colorful details that “soften” the skull’s eerie appearance a bit.
