Wednesday Walk at Velika Aleja

Hello everyone.
Sometimes it is hard to find place to walk during these hot summer days. Good for me there is lovely promenade in Sarajevo where you can cool off and have a long walk during hot summer days. This promenade is called Velika Aleja. Perfect place for our #WednesdayWalk.
With its length of 3.5 kilometers and around 3000 chestnut and plane trees along the way. This promenade leads to spring of river Bosna and it is popular destination for a walk. End of the promenade is under mountain Igman where spring of river Bosna is located. It is go to place when you are visiting Sarajevo.

Last week was very hot in Sarajevo and I was around Velika Aleja so decision was made - lets take a walk along the promenade.

As you can see trees are protection from the sun. Sun rays manage to go through but it is quite nice for a walk.

When here you will see crows around. During hot days it is nice place to hang out.

It is possible to take a horse carriage along the promenade. While writing this post I learned that horse carriages used here since 1895. So around 130 year tradition.

Of course trees are lovely. Long chestnut and plane trees are beautiful. When you look down the promenade it seems that it dont end. Having around 3000 trees that follows you on your walk is super sight. Chestnuts were planted in 1888 and plane trees in 1892.

Walk along whole promenade takes around 40 minutes if I remember correctly.
I took may time and did not go all the way. I passed half of the way and enjoy scenery and lovely atmosphere.

After more that 50 minutes of walk I found myself nice spot to sit and rest. I walked slowly. Usually you could reach easily end of the promenade and reach spring of river Bosna but I took my time.

As you can see here there are double rows of trees. So you get this small walk way along main road. It looks magical.

Such a nice spot to rest. Birds chirping and singing. Sound of horse carriages coming along the way. Big shadow. Place to be at when day is hot.
After I rested here it was time to go back.

Also there are some villas on the beginning of the promenade. They were made in Austro Hungarian period. Lest say some time around 1900s.

After long walk I rested more in nearby park.

In this parks as well trees are doing good job in providing shadow. I had super time here walking along Velika Aleja. This was my first visit during this hot season and it is something that I should repeat again. Super choice when you need relaxing and refreshing place.
