Castle of the Morro / Castillo del Morro 🏰

Hello dear travelers, this time I want to share with you my last trip and the most special one because of how longed for it was.

I visited for the first time the Castle of San Pedro de la Roca better known as El Morro. This is one of the most well-known tourist spots in my city and one that I had never been to.

Hola queridos viajeros, en esta ocasión quiero compartir con ustedes mi último viaje y el más especial por lo ansiado que era.

Visité por primera vez el Castillo de San Pedro de la Roca más conocido como el Morro. Este es uno de los puntos turísticos más conocidos de mi ciudad y al que nunca había ido.

The welcome to the place is given as a cabin completely covered by many stones, I love this type of structures, I have always wanted to include if it is a part of this type of decoration in my house. Just for that beauty and the place was fulfilling my expectations.

La bienvenida al lugar la da como una cabina revestida en su totalidad por muchas piedras, este tipo de estructuras me encantan, siempre he querido incluir a si sea una parte de este tipo de decoración en mi casa. Solo por esa belleza ya el lugar iba cumpliendo mis expectativas.

It was followed by a very long, wide corridor, with small cabins on its sides, these being points of sale, small restaurants that do not work, administrative offices. That day they were closed and with everything and that their beauties jumped to the view.

Le seguía un pasillo muy largo, amplio, con pequeñas cabañas en sus costados, siendo estás puntos de venta, pequeños restaurantes sin funcionar, oficinas de los administrativos. Ese día estaban cerradas y con todo y eso sus bellezas saltaban a la vista.

We stopped almost at the end, the Castle of El Morro was already visible. Our initial stop was at the Restaurant, we arrived just at lunch time and to my regret I had to have lunch first and then get to know the Castle because its officials also stop at that time.

Nos detuvimos casi al final, ya se divisaba el Castillo del Morro. Nuestra parada inicial era en el Restaurante, llegamos Justo a la hora de almuerzo y para mi pesar tenía que almorzar primero y de ahí conocer el Castillo porque de igual forma sus funcionarios se detienen en ese horario.

This was the Restaurant my first restaurant I saw with a complete theme of pirates and everything related to navigation. A pirate is the one who gives you the entrance and in the place everything screams SEA, incredible.

Este fue el Restaurante mi primer restaurante que vi con temática completa de piratas y todo lo relacionado con navegación. Un pirata es el que te da la entrada y en el lugar todo grita MAR, increíble.

The person who decorated the place earns my complete admiration, and who decided to locate the restaurant Right there much more, from there the best views are observed without a doubt, is there anything more peaceful than the sea? No, and least of all such a beautiful sea. Thank God we were the only ones in the place, we chose a quiet day, the best, I would say.

La persona que decoró el lugar se gana mi completa admiración, y quien decidió ubicar el restaurante Justo allí muchísimo más, desde allí se observan las mejores vistas sin duda, hay algo qué de más tranquilidad que el mar? No, y menos un mar tan hermoso. Gracias a dios éramos los únicos en el lugar, escogimos un día tranquilo, el mejor, diría yo.

When my time came to go to the Castle I didn't hesitate for a second, on the way there are a few cannons accompanied by tags narrating everything that happened in that area. The story is very beautiful, it goes from the French intervention and attacks by corsairs and pirates.

Llegado mi momento de ir al Castillo no lo dudé ni un segundo, en el camino hay unos cuantos cañones acompañados de tarjas narrando todo lo ocurrido en esa zona. La historia es muy bonita, va de la intervención francesa y ataques de corsarios y piratas.

The Castle is initially shown with a small maze, thick and high walls until you find the bridge that officially welcomes you. A beautiful and imposing bridge, it gave me some fear at the beginning but when I realized that the wood was more than good I did not hesitate to trust.

El Castillo se muestra de forma inicial con un pequeño laberinto, paredes gruesas y altas hasta dar con el puente que te da la bienvenida oficial. Un puente hermoso e imponente, me dio algo de miedo al inicio pero me cuando me di cuenta que la madera era más que buena no dudé en confiar.

In the first room there was a guard that I painfully mistook for a statue, he didn't even move, he was next to one that was. In one corner was a huge jug and like a kind of wagon.

En la primera sala había un guardia que penosamente lo confundí con una estatua, ni se movía, estaba al lado de uno que sí lo era. En una esquina estaba un jarro enorme y como una especie de carreta.

In the next room there was the model of the place and some posters with the whole route with the aim of locating the visitor for a better stay, I imagine that's it, because despite having officials there was no guide.

En la siguiente sala estaba la maqueta del lugar y algunos posters con toda la ruta con el objetivo de ubicar al visitante para una mejor estadía, imagino que sea eso, porque a pesar de tener funcionarios no hubo guía.

I didn't stop in the inner rooms anymore, I preferred to see the whole Fort, but the outside, to observe its rocky walls and to get lost among so many stairs that more than once took me to the same place. We still had to climb one more floor and we could already see the sea in all its splendor.

No me detuve más en las salas interiores preferí ver El Fuerte completo, pero el exterior, observar sus murallas rocosas y perderme entre tantas escaleras que más de una vez me llevaron al mismo sitio. Todavía nos faltaba por subir una planta más y ya se observaba el mar en todo su esplendor.

Being on the top floor, happiness was already more than complete, I could experience joy, freedom. The place looked more amazing, there were a number of cannons scattered all over the floor and some centrally located. In one corner there was a radar or antenna, something like that, that according to what I was told, the entrance of ships or the network is controlled there, I did not understand well. From there you can see the most beautiful sea, the very blue sky. A 10/10.

Estando en la última planta, ya la felicidad estaba más que completa, podía experimentar gozo, libertad. El lugar se mostraba más increíble, habían una serie de cañones dispersos en toda la planta y algunos de forma céntrica. En una esquina estaba un radar o antena, algo así, que según me contaron por ahí se controla la entrada de barcos o la red, no entendí bien. Desde allí se puede ver el mar más hermoso, el cielo bien azul. Un 10/10.

When we decided to go down I just entered another of the lower rooms, I returned through a different part, although each wall looks the same, there were things about the return that did not sound to me, so I think it was another route. I looked at the part that is conditioned as for Catholic cults, something like that.

Cuando decidamos ir bajando solo entré a otra de las salas inferiores, retorné por una parte diferente, aunque cada muro parece el mismo, había cosas de el retorno que no me sonaban, por lo que creo que era otra ruta. Me asomé a la parte que está acondicionada como para cultos católicos, algo así.

Returning to the restaurant where my parents were I kept looking at the little details that raised the score of the place even more, a perfect lawn, beautiful views, the most beautiful flowers with the most exquisite aroma and as if that were not enough, there I watched the sunset coming in.

Regresando al restaurante donde estaban mis padres seguí fijándome en los pequeños detalles que subían aún más la puntuación del lugar, un césped perfecto, vistas hermosas, las flores más bonitas con el aroma más exquisito y como si fuera poco, allí observé la entrada del atardecer.

Our day ended in Punta Gorda, a nearby beach, there I finished watching the most beautiful and special sunset, I had never seen one on the beach. My day couldn't have been better, it was full of surprises and fulfilled expectations. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Hugs!!

Nuestro día terminó en Punta Gorda, una playa cercana, allí terminé de ver el atardecer más bonito y especial, jamás había visto uno en la playa. Mi día no pudo estar mejor, estuvo cargado de sorpresas y expectativas cumplidas. Espero que lo hayan disfrutado tanto como yo. Abrazos!!
