In PhotoFeed Contest - Portrait Photography Round 124 ~ The Process of Drying Fish ala Fishermen
Hello...
In the PhotoFeed Contest - Portrait Photography Round 124 organized by @Photofeed, I tried to share a photo about the process of drying fish ala fishermen. The photo I shared shows two men in the process of drying fish under the hot sun. They use a tampah or red plastic woven basket to scatter small fish on the para-para or drying net. Wearing protective hats from the heat, they look focused and diligent in arranging the fish so that they are evenly distributed, allowing for perfect drying naturally by the heat of the sun.
Fish drying is an important part of the traditional preservation process that has been passed down from generation to generation. Fish that are dried are usually fresh catches that are then dried so that they can last a long time without using preservatives. This process requires good weather and direct sunlight, as seen in this photo, with clear skies and an open atmosphere that supports outdoor activities.
This activity also reflects the value of hard work and perseverance of coastal communities or fishermen in processing seafood. Not only as a livelihood, fish drying is also a symbol of the connection between humans and nature. Through this traditional method, they not only maintain the distinctive taste of fish, but also maintain the local cultural heritage that has survived until now.
