We're back to Mississippi River Valley landscapes. Or more specifically, Upper Mississippi River Valley landscapes. In case you are curious and haven't seen this part of the world before, either in person or throw my photos, here's a quick summary for you enjoy! (Also note, no filters were needed on any of these photographs...which always makes me happy)

The Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge is a vital sanctuary stretching over 261 miles along the iconic Mississippi River. This haven for wildlife and nature enthusiasts encompasses a diverse array of habitats, including wetlands, islands, and floodplains, spanning portions of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois. The refuge was established in 1924 with the primary mission of offering protection to fish, birds, and other wildlife species.

The Upper Mississippi River refuge is a destination for outdoor recreation and a testament to ongoing conservation efforts. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities like hunting, fishing, wildlife observation, and exploring scenic trails. Its significance is further underlined by its designation as a Wetland of International Importance and a Globally Important Bird Area, recognizing its critical role in supporting diverse bird populations and its commitment to the preservation of a precious natural resource.

It's a favorite place for me and my family visit, as well. I could wander along these reserves full time, taking photos, filming videos, and maybe even start a YT channel or something...all in the 261 mile part of the world. To dream, right?

Our daughter loves the area, and if you ever can get this part of the world, I highly recommend it. Highly recommended!
