A Great River Road Bald Eagle

IMG_4456.jpg

We did a family trip to Iowa over the holiday weekend to explore a National Monument called Effigy Mounds. Most of the hike resulted in few pictures; I did get a woodpecker and a butterfly, but alas, no hawks or eagles. However, on the drive home through a town called Ferryville, Wisconsin, Hattie and I saw an eagle soar into a nearby tree along the highway. We stopped, and I managed to get a couple of photos of the beautiful bird of prey.

I took these with Canon T7 with my Sigma 150-600 mm lens. I see a lot of people prefer Nikon and Fuji over Canon...so any recommendations for me would be appreciated! I hate to start investing in lena if I change it up.

Thanks for checking out my photos. And always, any comments/advice are appreciated!

Nice shot, your camera must be good to be getting such good quality shots.
A change of profile pic 😃
I suppose mine is long over due.

Oh yeah, I felt artsy the other day so I switched it up a bit - pretending to be a Beatle, or something, lol

thanks! yeah, my friend uses a Nikon at work, but he mentioned there is nothing wrong with Canon. Maybe I still Andre Agassi to Canon from years ago?? That might be my hang up, lol

About ten years ago, when I decided to go from amateur to pro photography, I tested a Canon and Nikon camera from the same level. Back then, all Canon equipment was a bit more expensive, not much, about 10% more but I loved how I feel the cameras in my hands. Also, the menus and the interface of Nikon... not exactly my thing, too colorful, not so intuitive, at least to me. Also, generally I think Canon has better built quality.

I know photographers who use Sony full-frame bodies with Canon lenses, they say that's the best combo for landscape photography.

Fuji equipment has some advantages too. Things change quite rapidly recently and if I have to start from scratch now it would be very hard to take a decision which brand to stick with :)

Panasonic, Olympus and Samsung also have great camera but truth is, the biggest choice when it comes to lens is still for Canon and Nikon.

yeah that's my thinking...I'm really enjoying photography and want to start investing in some lens, but I am concerned that I'll change brands and start over. I gues worst case scenario I run with Canon, then when Bitcoin breaks 7 figures, I can reboot it need, lol, thanks for the comment - I appreciate it!

Oh, I hope you're right and BTC goes to 7 figures, it feels lately though it is going for the 4 figures, LOL.

Digital camera bodies are like "consumables", I mean they have a limited life because sooner or later the sensor will be fully exhausted but a lens, if used and maintained properly, is for life.
I think all popular brands have adaptors to mount Canon lenses ;)

Yeah I looked a bit into the idea of a Sony with Canon lenses...honestly, I do like the feel and the look of Canon landscapes quite a bit (in my limited work)
