Weekend Break: The Simplest, Happiest, and Sweetest Family Bonding I Had with My Oldies this Year

When was the last time your family bonded? Where? Who're you with? Are you complete with that getaway? Were you with your loved ones, other half, friends, or relatives? Looking for the perfect place to make it happen is the core plan to make it more enjoyable. But I'm sure some will still say that no matter where and who you are with, what's important is that you enjoy that day.

just like me, I'll say the same └|∵|┐♪.

Seriously, we didn't really go somewhere far, expensive, or a tourist spot that people often visit. We just visited our Auntie Velyn's house because of some matters the oldies had to take care of. And while we were in there, we took that chance to unwind, take a breather, and enjoy the weekend.

So we arrive at Aunt Velyn's house at 6:30 a.m. yeah, we are too early. The plan is 7:30, but Mom is just an early bird, and if we don't move the same way as her, we will receive a long nagging, lol. She's just so persistent, lol. As for our transportation, we just rent Ka Pidot Tricycle. He is a friend of Mom, so we know him. Aunt Velyn's house is just 10 to 15 minutes away, so it is really not that far.

Upon entering the house, these cuties greet us with their loud bark as if we are to snatch their favorite hoomans, lol. Actually, these dogs also came into our house, they are the babies of my Mama Adelfa's dog, Black-Black (if you remember her), in a different generation. Look at them standing all high and mighty with their cuteness.

They are just a month old when they get here, so I was one of the closest hooman to them before, but I guess not seeing each other for a long time is enough to make them forget all about me. What a cruel doggo, lol.

By the way, here are my Mommy F and Mommy D (right to left). It's just the three of us. Yes, my Mama is not here because she has a lot of dogs she has to take care of, so she declined. We planned to stay at Aunt Velyn's place until noon, so no one would feed the dog if we all went here.

We just decided to have a sit first. While the oldies are talking and gossiping, eherm, lol. I, on the other hand, am just playing with the doggos, teasing and making them mad. It's fun teasing them, to be honest, because they always react in a funny way, lol.

And after a minute of chitchatting, Aunt Velyn invited us to have a little walk in her little garden in the backyard. She wants to show us the jackfruit tree that she planted in her yard and the fruits it's bearing. I'm just following them, I also want to see it. Just hearing the word jackfruit is enough for me to crave a ripe Jackfruit. That's also one of my favorite fruits and jams.

I look around the place first, and what amazes me are those bunches of Banana trees, some even have fruit. Actually, she already harvested some of this banana, we even brought some home.

IMG_20230719_183103.jpg

I enjoyed the Banana Cue and Turon that I cooked as a snack last week, hehe. We had a happy tummy, Banana is the best! We also had a grilled Banana that day, have you tried grilled banana? I'm telling you guys, grilled Banana is the best. Grilled Banana here in the Philippines was grilled with a skewers but Mommy D didn't use that. She just grilled it directly to a fire, lol. You should try this.

And it's not just Banana trees that you can see here, she also has Valencia trees, Papaya trees, and even rambutans. What a prosperous backyard she has! I also like this kind of backyard, I want it in my house.

As I continue my walk, I can see a lot in the area. Aunt Velyn really loves cleanliness, so even if she's alone in the house, she will clean the whole place. You can see that here. This one caught my attention. I don't know, but it looks pretty to me. It is an old chunk of tree with this unfamiliar plant growing beside it. It is really an eye-catching object.

Anyways, going back to jackfruit, here it is, they are not ripe yet, but this is already harvestable, in fact, we have already cooked some of it. It was cooked with Coconut Milk and some spices, and gosh, the taste is always the best. We love to pair it with dried fish and steamed white rice. And by the way, that's Auntie Velyn and Mommy D harvesting the Jackfruit. We get two of them.

Look at them enjoying the day, that's how it should be. Doing this every once in a while is a must. Even I seek out this kind of enjoyable bonding. They are just so busy in the store that giving themselves some rest is so hard for them. Although the work is not that much, relaxing and resting are still really important and much needed.

IMG20230709071803.jpg

Look at them so happy and relaxed. Seeing them happy like this, I want to suggest doing it more often, but Mommy D will go against it, that's for sure. Well, I can't blame her, her store is also that important for her, especially because that's where she gets the money she needs for her every expense, including the money for her sister.

And tadaaaaan! So, I also took a photo of me holding this jackfruit, because why not? Lol. This one weighs a lot. Then, with its thorny skin, it is definitely not good for holding like this, lol. And OMG! I actually look like a tomboy in this picture, but either way, it looks cool, so ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ.

I want to share more photos that I took in her yard that I think are worth sharing, but I'll just share them in my next article. I will also share what we did after this short walk in the back yard and what kind of bonding we shared that day.

Maraming tanim sa auntie. Sometimes, we need some time with the oldies. Aside from learning from their ways and experiences, we get to enjoy their company and wisdom too. Looking forward for your next vlog with the oldies.
