During my visit to the US, the weather was super hot. My uncle thought it was a good idea to visit Fort Lauderdale, my grandfather used to live here. Unfortunately, I never had the chance to say hi to him as he passed a few years before I visited the town where he lived. Traveling with my uncle is absolutely fun. He talks a lot, and he has so many stories to tell, sometimes he forgets he already shared some of the stories, but they never seize to make me laugh. Apparently, he still shares stories about the time that we've spent together with his friends. And oh man, they always crack me up.

The trip in the car took about 8 hours, according to the navigation. We did it in 6. LOL. Well, my uncle did it in 6. He was so blasted to show me around. And he always makes sure that his guests have the time of their life whenever they come over. Even if it means 5-minute trips to something. Since I slept most of the time in the car, it was nice to wake up to some palm trees, but I actually had no clue where the heck I was. It took me a few years to realize I was actually like 30 minutes away of Miami because I never bothered to look "Fort Lauderdale" up. It was just somewhere a bit South of where my Uncle lives (just like New York is just a bit North of him (11hrs by car)).

Do you plan much when you're going on a trip?

The time that I spent in the US really sparked a travel motivation in me. Mostly because I thought things over and wished I did plan a bit more. Ever since this holiday I started to be more interested in the places I visited, and what kind of people lived there. Cultures differ, mindsets differ, there are so many places where people do the same things, differently. It's interesting, and cool to see with your own eyes.

Cheers,
Ruben
