The Red Town Hall in Szczecin

Hello everyone!

The Red Town Hall in Szczecin is one of the most interesting and distinctive buildings in the city. This neo-Gothic red brick structure was built between 1875 and 1879. The building is located on a slope near the PKS Bus Station and the PKP Railway Station, in the city center. Anyone arriving by public transport can easily find it.

Witam wszystkich!

Czerwony Ratusz w Szczecinie to jeden z ciekawszych i wyróżniających się budynek w tym mieście. Ten neogotycki gmach powstał z czerwonej cegły w latach 1875-1879. Budynek położony jest na skarpie w pobliżu Dworca Autobusowego PKS oraz Dworca PKP, czyli w centrum miasta. Każdy kto tu przyjedzie takim transportem może łatwo go znaleźć.

Above the entrance on this side there are four allegorical figures symbolizing: Industry, Agriculture, Sailing and Knowledge.

Nad wejściem od tej strony znajdują się cztery alegoryczne postacie symbolizujące: Przemysł, Rolnictwo, Żeglarstwo oraz Wiedzę.

Currently, the building houses the following institutions: the Maritime Office, the Maritime Chamber at the Provincial Court, the Inland Navigation Office, the Local Government Appeal Board, and the State Commission for Maritime Accident Investigation.

Obecnie w gmachu swoje siedziby mają: Urząd Morski, Izba Morska przy Sądzie Wojewódzkim, Urząd Żeglugi Śródlądowej, Samorządowe Kolegium Odwoławcze, Państwowa Komisja Badania Wypadków Morskich.

Another entrance, this time from the east, from Nowa Street and Tobrucki Square. Stairs lead to the terraces and the west side of the building.

Kolejne wejście, tym razem od strony wschodniej, czyli od ulicy Nowej i Placu Tobruckiego. Schody prowadzą na tarasy oraz stronę zachodnią budynku.

The Business Club Association is headquartered in the lower part of the building and there is also a restaurant.

W dolnej części budynki swoją siedzibę ma Stowarzyszenie Business Club oraz znajduje się tu również restauracja.

The building's facades are decorated with balconies, turrets, and the coat of arms of Szczecin, among other things.

Fasady budynku zdobione są m.in. balkonami, wieżyczkami oraz herbami Szczecina.

The building was destroyed by fire at the end of World War II and rebuilt in 1959-1963.

Gmach pod koniec II wojny światowej został zniszczony przez pożar, odbudowany w latach 1959-1963.

Due to the size of the building, I took most of the photos with a 14mm wide-angle lens.

Ze względu na rozmiary budynku większość zdjęć wykonałem szerokokątnym obiektywem na 14mm.
