Going out into the street and letting ourselves be surprised by the moment is one of the wonders my city offers.

Nights in Santa Clara, in the heart of Cuba, are often seen as wild nights by many. The routine is broken when you least expect it. That's not a bad thing; on the contrary, breaking the routine, the everyday, the expected, is often more beneficial than most people realize.

Here you can find the streets completely empty on the weekend, at times when the hustle and bustle used to prevent any silence; and then suddenly, even with most of the city without electricity, you discover a musical group in the middle of the central square trying to get the bodies of casual passersby or those who remain faithful to the diverse nights of an environment surrounded by cobblestones and stories transformed over time to dance.

Tonight, it may be just any night, with no significant date to celebrate, but with something that is becoming commonplace: the city asleep in the darkness, unaware of the presence of a spectacle in which, a priori, lights appear set up for a show in which, perhaps, the ghosts will take the opportunity to dance, or simply allows us to delight in the spontaneity of the children who escape from their parents to dance like butterflies that find lights on the path.

All this happens in my city, a city that doesn't know its anthem, its flag, its coat of arms... despite having them right there in the center, illuminated even in the darkness of the nights and its streets.

Salir a la calle y dejarnos sorprender por lo instantáneo, es una de las maravillas que ofrece mi ciudad.

Las noches en Santa Clara, en el centro de Cuba, pues ser vistas como noches locas para muchos. La rutina se rompe cuando menos lo esperas. Eso no es malo, al contrario, romper la rutina, lo cotidiano, lo esperado, en muchas ocasiones resulta más beneficioso de lo que la mayoría de las personas son capaces de asumir.

Acá lo mismo puedes encontrarte las calles totalmente vacías en pleno fin de semana, en horarios donde antaño la vorágine no permitía disfrutar de silencio alguno; que de pronto, aún estando la mayor parte de la urbe sin electricidad, descubres a una agrupación musical en el medio de la plaza central intentando provocar al baile en los cuerpos de los transeúntes ocasionales o en aquellos que aún permanecen siendo fieles a las noches diversas de un entorno rodeado de adoquines e historias transmutadas en el tiempo.

Esta noche, puede ser una noche cualquiera, sin fecha significativa a celebrar, pero con algo que se va convirtiendo en cotidiano, la ciudad dormida en la oscuridad que desconoce la presencia de una parafernalia en la que, a priori, aparecen luces montadas para un espectáculo en el que, tal vez los fantasmas aprovecharán para bailar, o simplemente permite deleitarnos con la espontaneidad de los niños que se escapan de sus padres para danzar como mariposas que encuentran luces en el camino.

Todo esto ocurre en mi ciudad, una ciudad que no conoce su himno, su bandera, su escudo... a pesar de tenerlo justo ahí, en el centro, iluminados aún en la oscuridad de las noches y sus calles.
