Contaminação de memória / HiveBR Photo Contest #24 - Poluição [PT/EN]

Olá linda comunidade do Brasil!
LEYMEN PEREZ
No canto da minha casa
há um homem magro
passando pelo lixo.
Ele não me viu.
Ele manteve suas medalhas
como alguém que teme
descubra a solidão
que sustenta suas costelas.
Eu penso nele jovem,
escrevendo cartas
para sua namorada.
E todas as suas cartas
Eram poemas,
antes do primeiro tiro,
aquela guerra crucificou
sob sua pele.

Hello, beautiful community of Brazil!
Today, motivated by the HiveBR photo contest and the theme Pollution, I'm sharing these photos taken recently in the neighborhood.
I was recently telling someone how, as a child, I heard stories that attested to how clean my city was.
Poets like Plácido were inspired by the cleanliness that, in centuries past, characterized the rivers where residents used to bathe and wash their clothes.
Today, sadly, my city doesn't have unpolluted rivers, nor is it a city characterized by its obvious cleanliness, and that saddens me.
I hope that one day everything will change and we can enjoy a cleaner, purer world.
To say goodbye, I want to share a poem I wrote not long ago, inspired by an image that struck me when I saw a neighbor rummaging through the garbage.
Writing a poem isn't a healthy exercise.
LEYMEN PÉREZ
On the corner of my house
there's a thin man
sorting through the trash.
He hasn't seen me.
He put away his medals
like someone afraid
of discovering the loneliness
his ribs endure.
I think of him as a young man,
writing letters
to his girlfriend.
And all his letters
were poems,
before the first shot,
which the war crucified
under his skin.

Saudações!
Between childhood and adult, a lot of things have changed in our world and environment...Will it ever get better? A question we find difficult to ask because no one knows the true answer.
I enjoyed your post and poem BTW 😊
I hope we all contribute a little bit through our actions to make things better.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
I'm glad you liked the post, and especially the poem!
Your words and photos carry so much emotion. It's heartbreaking to see how a once-clean city has changed, but your poem captures that loss in such a powerful way. I truly hope for a future where we can restore the beauty of our surroundings. Thank you for sharing this, it really makes one reflect.
I'm so glad you were moved by the poem and the post in general.
Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting in such a kind way!
Beautiful day!
So sad to see that this happens in many Latin American cities. Thanks for sharing!
