Watching movie with the family
Last Monday (28th Nov 2022) was announced as a public holiday in Malaysia by the newly appointed Prime Minister. Malaysia has finished its election and has chosen Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the 10th Prime Minister.
The announcement took the whole nation by surprise. I actually do not have any activity planned for that day. But since it is a public holiday, my family and I went to Berjaya Times Square simply for window shopping.
We did not intend to purchase anything because I haven't got my salary yet. My salary usually will be credited into my account on the 29th depending whether it is the weekend or not. If the 29th fall on weekend, my salary will be credited earlier.
We make a move from Subang Perdana at around 12pm. Surprisingly, the traffic was smooth all the way from Subang towards Bukit Bintang. We arrived at Berjaya Times Square exactly within 30 minutes of driving.
As usual, after entering Berjaya Times Square's basement parking, I will straight away go to B2 or B3. it is near impossible to find a parking at B1 level. As I predicted, upon entering B2 I can see there was a lof of empty parking spot. I manage to found one parking spot that is next to the lift entrance.
The first thing that we do at berjaya Times Square was get something to eat for lunch. My daughters wanted to have McD or KFC for lunch. But I did not feel like eating fast food. I suggested for us to eat at BananaBro.
Bananabro is your new favourite banana leaf restaurant that’s modern, authentic and best of all, perfect for get-togethers with your friends and family over fresh and hot meals with flavours that pack a punch! (source)
We ordered a banana leaf set for two (2), and then added one bananaleaf set. I share the banana leaf set with my youngest daughter. This is their first time eating at BananaBro. I can see that my wife and daughters able to enjoy the lunch set.
After having our lunch, we went for a stroll inside the shopping mall. Then at level 3, we passed by the GSC cinema. I asked my family whether they wanted to watch a movie. All of them said yes, and said that they wanted to see horror movie 😅😅
We go to the self-service kiosk and browse through the list of now-showing movies. Most of the horror movies were rated R18+. This means, I can't bring my daughters to see the movie.
Then we saw a horror movie titled "Qodrat", and the rating was PG13+. I do not know what the movie was all about. I asked my daughter is they were ok with this title. They said ok, and I proceeded to purchase the tickets.

This is the poster for the movie Qodrat. At a glance, it looks promising. I actually has a high standard for horror movie. I dislike horror movie that rely / uses a lot of jump scare.
for me, the movie such as The Exorcist, and Hereditary is a good example of horror movie that does not rely on jump scare to be scary. The storyline itself is more that enough to be scary. But for Qodrat, I did not put any expectation. I just wanted to enjoy the day out with my family.

Looking at the seat availability, I choose a showtime that was at 3.40 PM. Meaning, we have another one hour before the movie starts. For the sake of killing time, we went to level 4 to look at the fashion district.
At level 4, my daughters saw a shop selling hats. My daughters told me that they wanted to purchase a hat using their pocket money. I told them to go ahead and they look around the shop finding the hat that they wanted.
After few minutes of browsing, my eldest daughter picked a bucket hat, and my youngest daughter choose a pink snow cap. By the time we went out of the shop, my youngest daughter saw a hoodie, and she bought the hoodie too.

We went back to the cinema entrance at 3.30 PM. We waited for a few minutes before the cinema hall was opened. We then proceeded to walk from the cinema entrance to hall number 5. When purchasing the tickets, I purposely choose row of seat that at the back and nearest to the exit. If my daughter wanted to go to the toilet, I won't be bothering other people.
The movie duration was 110 minutes. I won't be posting the synopsis or review here. What I can say is the movie is enjoyable to watch. I was really impressed with the fight scene choreography. Both of my daughters also loved the movie. They even say that they wanted to watch the sequel for Qodra, that will be release maybe next year.

Yay! 🤗
