Buying Malay's traditional cookies
Typically we will buy traditional cookies or traditional cakes during Eid. Other than that, it is not common to buy traditional cookies for daily consumption. I and my family were at UT Keramat when my wife saw a stall selling various types of traditional cookies.
After finished our errand and before heading out of UTC, my wife and eldest daughter said they want to take a look at the cookies sold there. They went to the stall, while I and my youngest daughter sat at the nearby table.
From where I sat, I took several photographs of the traditional cookies sold at the stall. The cookies sold there are such as Dahlia, Dahlia Susu, Semperit, Emping Jagung, Kuih Kapit, Kuih Kopi, Kuih Cincin and many more.
The cookies were sold and packed inside a transparent medium-sized plastic bottle. Each cookie was priced between MYR20 to MYR 25 per bottle. To make things easier for the customer, the stall also gave out testers of each cookie.
I can see my wife and eldest daughter tried out a few of the tester. My wife asked me if there were any cookies that I wanted. I do not have anything in mind at the time and I told her no.
My wife bought three types of cookies which are (i) Emping Jagung, (ii) Kuih Kopi, and (iii) Kuih Semperit. The grand total of those three cookies was MRY70 (approximately around 15 USD)
We opened the cookies, once we reach home. Out of all those three cookies, I loved the Emping Jagung. It was crunchy and crispy. What was great was, that the Emping Jagung does not taste too sweet. The sweetness was juts right.
Malaysian and Indonesian traditional cookies are very similar, maybe it's the same after all, we are still one Malay culture. Seeing the traditional cookies in these jars, I miss the Eid atmosphere.

Eid in the year 2023 will be in April. meaning another 6 months before Ramadhan

Yes, that's right, usually we are also in Indonesia buying cakes like the ones you show in the photo when approaching Eid. The goal is none other than the cakes we will serve to the guests who come to visit our homes, and strangely we rarely buy cakes like that for us to stock up as snacks at home. What we have is that we buy other snacks at the supermarket which are sometimes more expensive but not good for health 😄
The one that is not good for health, is the most delicious one 😅😅
