Macro Photography: Getting to Know the Garden Spider

Hello hive friends! If you've seen my previous posts, you've probably noticed that I always, always, always use zoom for all my shots; I feel very comfortable photographing that way. However, today, while I was enjoying my morning, I stumbled upon this little spider, which prompted me to use my camera's macro function for the first time, and I'm really happy with the results!

What caught my attention most was its vibrant coloration. Its abdomen is a deep, almost emerald green, blending beautifully with the foliage, but at the same time, it features flashes of red, black, and yellow that make it look like a tiny living gem. In one of the photos, you can even see a small trapped fly, demonstrating how effective its morning "trap" is.

These spiders are true architects and are completely harmless to us. They're a vital part of our garden ecosystem, helping us keep insects at bay. It's a reminder that sometimes the most beautiful and complex things are hiding in plain sight.

What do you think? Have you ever stopped to admire these tiny engineers of nature?

Excelentes fotos, muy nítidas... Conozco esa especie y sé que no es muy grande y es difícil de fotografiar con una cámara bridge como tu FZ-150. Se nota que dominas muy bien tu cámara... Envío un fuerte aplauso!!!
