Out of reach
I've been trying to maintain a fair bit of distance from every form of "distraction" for quite a while now; yet, sometimes I just give in, quite willingly too.
I am human after all, sooner or later a little taste of relapse is unavoidable.
Even the things I work so hard for, every now and then I will distance myself from that realm too. I don't want to turn my life into big ole loop of repetitiveness. I'm no admirer of randomness; yet, I can't deny that sometimes the very random experiences can add a fair bit of spice to our lives.
Yes, having the ability to predict is a gift, the feeling of predicting something correctly is awe-inspiring too, but...
Predictability can also be monotonous and colorless...
Let's just say that sometimes I just like to wake up and take guesses, and sometimes I'd rather have a solid routine set, a day prior.
On Tuesday I got on a bus and headed towards the very blue and green parts of Sylhet, mostly treading by the border of Meghalaya, India.
It was a little tour with my in-laws. They've never been to this part of the country, and they've been planning to visit for quite a while now. So, at the last moment they asked if I would like to join them, and even though it was quite a hasty decision from my end, only a fool would say no to such an offer.
Anyhow, I've been on the prowl for quite a few months anyways, looking for a little window to travel somewhere close by. My plan being, to just lay back and relax for 2 to 3 nights, that's my kind of a vacation.
However, this little "holiday" wasn't really the "vacation-y" type. It was a full fledged tour, where you make use of every single minute you have, by covering as many areas as possible.
In these 3 to 4 days we've covered over 20 kilometers by foot alone. If we count the distance travelled "on wheels", then it's easily over 500 kilometers for me, a lot more for my in-laws.
Mud, sand, rocks, flats, and hills, under heavy sunlight, or rain, we've covered it all. Not a day was wasted, and the only "relaxing" we did was getting some sleep late at night, and even that wasn't too "relaxing"; thanks to the heat and lack of ventilation.
On top of that, for some odd reason my SIM card didn't have proper coverage in Sylhet. Others who were using the same mobile carrier were getting decent service, but I couldn't make one damn call for 4 days straight. I guess it was because of my older SIM card.
So, I was out of reach for 4 days straight; absolutely 0 outgoing or incoming calls. And in an "odd" way, I actually liked it that way.
To be very honest, now I feel like I should do this more often. Maybe go solo next time?
Go offline for a few days, stay out of reach for as long as I can; until they send the hounds to get me.
Well, I would not say you should not do it more often but you may get tired of it fast so I think you should do it once in a while for a vety wonderful experience
It doesn't have to be anywhere far, even the outskirts of the city will do. Let's say once in every 4 to 6 months or so.
😂😂😂😂
I've never been offline for four days straight. Would love to know how that keeps me sane.
I really wish I could use my own holiday to hike as well. There's no good place to go hiking around here. I'd really love to take those long walks in the sun or rain, and taking lovely photos alongside would be amazing.
Well, you better get off your ass and go somewhere far away for a few days. You just might like it. 😂
I myself like to keep it balanced, as always. One day I'm the most active social media user out there, and the other I'm nowhere to be found in the online realm.
I wish it was that easy Riz😂😂😂.
Balance is important. I like this.
JUST DO IT!
Balance is key, always!
