Master of one?
Creativity is a risky game, but it's fun though, adventurous, but not many succeed in the realm of creativity.
Of course, if life has so much to offer, then why should we limit ourselves?
Especially now, when we are living is such a competitive world and society; I say right now versatility is the only solution. Also, if you look at the pace of our advancement and the current "digital economy", then you'll notice that the game is changing fast, and our demands too.
And what is currently in demand, usually will put forward more opportunities.
From our 20s to our 30s life should be a learning experience, you'll never know what you really like or want, unless you experiment a bit. So, start taking a few risks. YOLO is id you have to.
On top of that, in present time you have the golden opportunity to monetize most of your "work" and content. Even 5 years ago it wasn't as common, not is my region at least.
Now I see newer content creators popping up everywhere. A lot of them love reviewing different types of food, some want to showcase their daily lifestyle, many are creating informative content too, and some, like me, just like to write haha.
The fun part is that most of it started as an experiment, a hobby, a little extra effort to just share our thoughts and material on the web. All while having a serious job or business, some are students, a few family people too.
Of course, a ton of views and all of that "moolah and success" won't come to anyone on day 1, it will take time and a lot of effort too. Getting monetized and "rewarded" isn't easy, you must offer something that stands out, you must be original, that's your best bet. And as always, you'll have to be consistent.
Most of what started as a gig and a few comments of appreciation, soon enough became a life changing decision, which for some turned out to be the main source of income. A total revamp in lifestyle, when most of these creators could leave their original gig, and turn their "hobby" into their profession; hence, becoming a master of one. Maybe?
We've all heard the line "jack of all trades master of none" but not too many know about the full quote, which is..
“A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.”
I ask you, why do we really have to be a master of one? And what heights do you have to reach to be a master? Are we talking about perfection? Because perfection is a myth, but, you can always strive to do better, and that is quite real.
We're humans after all, not everyone is capable of competing and operating at the highest levels. We have out natural plateaus, where the learning curve just can't keep up anymore. So? Should we now stop trying? Or should we just maybe try and focus on another topic?
I surely would try and excel in another field and category, explore new fields, learn a new skill.
Where's it written, that you can't master more than one thing?
I've mastered countless things just during my teens, and now I'm still learning as I get closer to my 30s.
I've learned to sell, to manage, then I've worked for countless startups. I've been a part of our own family business for half a decade now. Back in school I used to be a top athlete, after finishing school I reached peak fitness and built a chiseled physique just 4 months after conquering a life threatening disease.
Now, some of these came together, hand in hand, and sometimes one after the other. Even now, I'm still climbing, conquering, and exploring; yet, sometimes it still feels as if I'm not doing enough.
Humans are flawed, which is true, but we are also built to perform. Sadly, not everyone is built the same, that is why not everyone is capable of competing in every field and level. But, the good news is, that compared to the very recent and modern past, we now have the highest number of options to choose from.
So, take your pick and run with it...
Play with passion, or don't play at all.

I think your point of view is quite interesting. Comparing it to the digital world and the rise of content creators, it's a good point of view. I think we should never stop learning and doing. We do more moving than standing still.
It's crazy and scary, how fast everything is moving, jobs and even "people" are becoming obsolete fast. Automation and software assistance is making things a bit too easy and accessible, for which the competition isn't as high in an open market.
Yet, we still have a long way to go, and the ones who adapt and adopt early on, will survive.
This was sone very interesting write up with an intriguing perspective. As the world is evolving, more opportunities are showing up. It would be really ludicrous to just be a master of one thing in a world like this.

There's quite a lot to gain from everything you've said. And I've also noticed that these days more and more people are abandoning their college disciplines to pursue their hobbies and other passions of theirs.
I don't think I've read any of your posts before but you've left me hooked. I also was intrigued by that chiseled physique I saw there, lol. Permission to stalk?
I myself know countless people who've dropped out of College or University to work on their skills, and the things they're passionate about.
And I say it's much needed, versatility is the key, and if we adopt it properly, then one day there won't be any shortages of jobs.
I try and publish about 4 to 5 posts a week, these days I haven't been that active; hence, my late reply. It has become quite tough to actively blog and publish after a long day of work.

For me, being knowledgeable in many areas helps one be "more," as opposed to just sticking to one thing.

And it doesn't have to be anything professional, we should do it for ourselves, to keep ourselves updated and ready.
For example, knowing a bit of extra computer work never hurt, I'm talking about maintenance. Many know how to run a PC, but they don't know much about maintenance or repairs. So, if one day their PC malfunctions all of a sudden, then they'll have to wait for an "expert". Funny thing is, most of the time these issues are easy fixes, even YouTube or Google provides enough information.
So, it's just about a bit of extra effort and curiosity.
